How popular do you think EU4 Multiplayer is?

I don't play MP at all. While I find some aspects of it very appealing, I just can't play on a constant 2-3 speed without pauses. Downtimes become too long and boring, while the times were I've to multitask become to stressful for my enjoyment. Add to that my 2-year old son and I would be hard pressed to even find some decent time to do it anyway.

Just for the sake of doing so? Is there a recent trend where people are asking for a focus on MP that I've missed or something?

As for the OP, probably 0.3fiddy% MP playtime.

That's my suspicion too. Johan's third post in this thread, post #10, states that he thinks the number of people who play SP offline is less than a fraction of a %, something like 0.x%.

I'd be surpried if Steam can tell him how many games I've started because Steam is set to be offline on my computer except when I want to upgrade a game. While I now have unlimited online time for my ISP, that's a new situation. Until the end of last year, I only got 50 hours a month for my fee. Any more would be charged to my credit card. My habits haven't changed.

I think he's twigged that he has statistics proving that the number of MPs far exceed the number of Ironman players which isn't going to surprise anybody. Or he's realised that he's inadvertantly let slip that Steam can track our play habits while we're offline.

Seems how I play a good 6 hours a day or so, I am loving 2-4 person MP

I currently only play SP for Iron Man Mode because I can't get achievements in MP. Rest of the Time I play MP with friends I know IRL.

MP has more options than SP. So I expect more and more people play MP

Hmm.. I'm not sure how you mean to measure this, but possibly the metric is broken.

I can easily see SP games being played through to the 1700s, but this is much less common for multiplayer games,
which get restarted quite often (at least when I tried MP a while back). I'd be more interesting in percentages of total
playing time.

I effectively only play MP, but I still start the game about 5 times between sessions to check things, and about 2-3 times per session for rehosts (hopefully less with the new 1.5). So I don't know which number Johan means to show, but my personal would be about 5:3 SP:MP.

I only play single player. Tried to play once via lan and internet but the game was constantly slowing down the speed even thought our connections/PC's are top notch. I have no intention of playing at less than five speed.

As for how many people I believe play MP. I don't think they are that many compared to SP although judging by Johan's post I am quite incorrect. However, if the numbers are close, I'd initially assume that their metrics are somehow wrong.

Might be. The first and main obstacle though are work, wife and children, which makes organizing time slots for MP a chore.

People do not realize how better is MP (don't mean on those weekly games, i mean on 4-5 times per week games but with organised group of more than 10 ppl , it requires time and nerves but it pays of (got 500 hours ONLY on those games). singleplayer is almost like a tutorial or for people who just can afford 1 or 2 hours per day to play this game , which is diabolically low amount of time for this game to show you its full potential

100% OFFLINE singleplayer. I guess I am part of the confirmation biased fraction of a percent fictional figure

I have not yet played much multiplayer because I am afraid that it will be too hard.
(although last time I played as Portugal I did great stealing most of South America and Central America from my Ally player Spain and stealing a lot of India from my another ally player nation England haha and I even took parts of middle east and random provinces in Africa haha, they were obviously planning something against me but France was on my side so they could not do anything, fun times.)

I've played like 550-600 hrs in SP, then moved to MP and never looked back Right now I think my EU4 playing time is 95% MP.
