How popular do you think EU4 Multiplayer is?

It's not that strange, only about a third of EUIV's total userbase plays MP with any kind of regularity, according to Johan's stats.
Mindbogglingly, some people are still convinced this is too high.
True that. But I just get the feeling that the stats are supposed to mean something, like he's making a point.
Did you feel the same way when Paradox posted similar stats in the CK2 forum a few years back?

It's not about a particular agenda, or justifying anything, that's the narrative that's been crafted by the people who hate the idea that Paradox plays office multiplayer to fine tune balance. "If I don't care about multiplayer, they shouldn't care about the players who do!" as it were.

Never played much CK2 tbh. But I guess you're right, people often want to see things that aren't really there. I like EU4 in its current state so I'm quite happy with it
Yeah, I mean, I am not completely sold on current EUIV (though I may just be a bit salty after losing a disastrous coalition war as I was on the brink of forming the Netherlands with Friesland), but I don't argue that the devs cater to my whim for the central game's design. If there's anything I dislike about the game, I can either mod it, or put in a request it be changed, and see where the die falls for the next patch.
I just prefer to avoid seeing the world through the lens of paranoia and conspiracy, that 'everyone is out to get me and people like me'.
I think that some posters are just annoyed at the less-than-professional (I don't know which words I can say here!) way that Johan presented it. "Hey guys, guess how many players play MP games! I'm not going to give you any information to inform you guesses, but I want to be amused at how wrong you are! You'll see later!" Worse, the statistic that he gave doesn't at all reflect what he said in his post.
There was already some worry that Paradox was going to start focusing more on the MP aspect of their games and this sort of thread isn't helping that. I only play SP and I don't demand that Paradox focus solely on me, but this wouldn't be the first game ruined for me because design and balance decisions were based on a game mode that I don't play. I'd hate to see that happen again.
I'll admit, I have been a pretty frequent Paradox gamer for awhile now, (Since EU2, to be precise) and I have never once played a MP game. Partially because my internet has always been a bit patchy, but mostly just because no one I know plays any Paradox games. Not to mention the kind of coordination and cooperation it takes to organize a game as long as EU4.
Which is a shame really, since I love politicking and intrigue.

Also, Johan, there is no way this is going to end well. I am not sure how you ever thought this was a good idea. Either you show data that SP is more common and your MP customers feel invalidated, or vice versa. No one will come out of this pleased.

Me and 3 friends play a few hours of MP every few days with steam voice chat. Tons of fun. First game is up to about 1760 and we can't wait to start our next one. Multiple OOS problems every time. Tons of times wasted waiting for saves to redownload. I wish it could just resynch somehow.

I doubt there are many MP games around. Reason is, MP needs a fair balance, which EUIV can never ever grant.
you have a very limited view on what constitutes balance and what does not. i recommend not posting about it in the future.

The few times I play MP is with people I know personally. I don't really like playing with a random bunch of people.
