I'm 48
Lots 'o Paper & pencil Avalon Hill & SPI back in the day. For computers, Sid Meier was a god & Microprose was his church. I tithed religiously. Started Paradox with EU2 and HoI II.

OT: Advanced Squad Leader (ASL, the game from hell) is getting a few mentions here. Now then, my German SPW-251/1 halftrack has a first-line halfsquad with a demo charge. I want to drive through a hex with a Russian T-34 tank and throw the DC at it. OK, where is that table that shows which armor facing I hit? Oh, wait, the T-34 is currently Crew Exposed (wanting the road movement rate). Should I just over-run the thing with small arms fire instead?
Good times, man, good times....

I wonder if PI will find this information useful.

I bet they already know, that their Games are played from Players any age.
More complex Games always attract older People more then younger ones. But if you love Strategy Games, then HoI is for you, whatever age you are.
In fact, i dont know many people that love WW2 Strategy Games, and dont like the HoI Series also. Especially if you like more the Strategy Part, then the Tactics one.

Would love to know, how HoI4 will look like in 5-6 Years.

I am also sure, HoI3 will get a much bigger fanbase as it has now. Still many play HoI2, because Hoi3 looked not very polished as it came out. Hope this changes soon, and HoI3 gets the attention it deserves, between us Strategy Lovers.

you started playing pc games since you're 8? and with strategy genre ?

Well, it's just in the last five or six years I've been playing what could be considered heavier strategy games. In the beginning it was mainly RTS such as AOE1 and then AOE2. Then RTT and TBS, for instance Shogun TW and it's been going on since then... And now It's basically anything where I'm able to divide and conquer ;-). I don't know when I started playing a game from PI, but it was a while back, probably the first one was Crusader kings. (Perhaps as early as when it was released).

I'm now 52. I've played computer strategy games almost exclusively, starting with Civ 2 in 1996 followed by its decendents. Thence to various 4X space games such as Stars!, Space Empires V and Sword of The Stars but now I stick mostly to HOI 2 and 3 and Victoria II

As always, time is the killer.

Well, I'm 50. I first started wargaming with the books from Donald Featherstone, Charles Grant et al in, um, nineteen seventy something I think. Since then I have played figure wargames, board games (wargames and others), roleplaying games (pen & paper mainly, but computer, too) and lots of strategy games on the computer (starting with "pong", I think, which ran slow enough to almost count as "strategy" when I tried it!).

I 'discovered' Europa Universalis in September 2001 when the author of my all-time favourite roleplaying world (Hârn, if you are interested) enthused to me about it when I met him while visiting Vancouver. Since then I have played every Paradox title published (I believe). In 2008 I got involved with the licensed project that became "Arsenal of Democracy", where I helped out with the military history knowledge and game systems/maths knowledge I have acquired over a lifetime of gaming; I knew it would come in handy one day! Now I'm watching HoI3 develop to overshadow AoD, somewhat - which was always going to happen (although there are still some things we came up with that I would love to see in the "big brother" ;) ).

I hate to admit it but I am now 39.

Started off with D&D Basic rules many years ago playing with older brothers. Also AD&D, 2nd Edition AD&D, Squad Leader and Operation Barbarossa.

On computers, our first was the Commodore VIC20 (tape drive/cartridge) - Zork and Sargon Chess spring to my clouded mind. Then Commodore 64, lots of games on that one, Bulletin Boards (the precursor to the internet?).

First Paradox game was HOI.

Good times, man, good times....

Back then you had to be a lawyer in playing those games. The rules were written like laws with sections, subsections, addendum and exceptions. Not to mention many were 100 to 150 pages in length. Ah the good times we had.
