im not on about buying the original release version, im talking about buying the latest version in a cheap box but not paying for the majority of the modified code that ive already puchased, i dont think £20 is a fair price ive already paid enough money. as i said they should charge more in the beginning and deliver a better product to the market in the 1st place.

The price of the box is not an issue, in fact it'll be download only as far as I know, aside from a special German version that'll come later. Nor are you re-buying HoI3, HoI3 is not included in FTM (In fact, HoI3 and SF are required to play FTM, so obviously everyone who buys FTM will have to own the others), it's new and additonal code you're buying.

as i said they should charge more in the beginning and deliver a better product to the market in the 1st place.

Working longer on a better and more expensive product might sound nice, but consider that this comes at the expense of a longer wait for income. Working for 2 years on something that you expect'll pay out 200 gold :)p) is riskier than working for 1 year on something that you expect'll pay out 100 gold.

Paradox had problems maintaining a steady cash influx in the past from what I gather, so I'd expect the business model of effectively releasing games in installments (expansion packs) to remain for the foreseeable future.

We stil going to be able to get it via Steam on release day? I know we have crazy censorship laws regarding this kind of material, and I doubt there would be any "German Super Pack" or something due to those. :p

I think so anyway*. Could you buy the regular version of SF? I would expect it to be the same and the "super" version will be in addition to that. I hear it has a sprite pack though.

*Our publishing people are all off to E3 so I can't check.

I would hope no more than $10. I recognize that there are new features, but it's still the same game with tweaks and bug fixes from what I can see, and having played EU3 and now HOI3 it's almost sure it'll come with a supply of new bugs to go with it. If they spent more time on quality control, and clearly they don't spend enough right now, I'd be more content paying more.

I think Paradox is a very apt name for this particular gaming company as it makes the world's best games IMO, but they are also seriously buggy.

The more complex a program is the more chance of bugs.

the better the QC testing the better the product reaches the consumer.

do you guys at paradox even beta test with a real player attitude and not a hands off run through.

that would at least show up some of the concerns raised immediatly by the community on release.

plus capturing the glaring bugs makes the game less of a laughing stock. if hoi3 was a console game it would not sell because it is too buggy at release. please paradox do better. release a game to the market in console playable condition with all the major game crash bugs sorted out without the need for patching.

is it ok if we only release it on a console then as well? having fixed hardware makes everything a lot easier...

We have tried to improve a lot of stuff with how we work with code and do QA since the hoi release and I think we have improved release quality a lot.

EDIT: emued by Dark :p

i used to work in a quality control dept.

this isnt to say i havent had THOUSANDS of hours of fun playing paradox games. and its good you guys do listen.
when it comes to download only release what happens to me, i dont even have a bank account let alone a paypal account or other such credit terms, so i have to wait until you lot release a box or as i currently do, get a mate to purchase the expansions for me.
a £5 cd case expansion to market would make money. you dont need to produce alot of inventory 2 copies per store in uk would probably mean a run of 2000. £1 to produce £2.50 wholesale and £5 retail. your distribution business is paying off for the fun stuff like the games development. as long as you make a bit and dont listen to accountants saying make more (as they always do) everyone gets happy.

I'm going to be marginally off-topic in a second, but first to be on topic:

$20 seems pretty reasonable, and it's what I'd expected to pay considering that Semper Fi has stayed steady at $20 forever now. I'll probably buy this expansion for full retail (and not wait for a sale), but I just hope I don't get a Divine Wind pulled on me - I bought that expansion for $20 the day it came out only to find it dropped in price by 50% soon after release.

Slightly off topic: What is the reasoning behind the $1 = 1£ policy? Although unaffected by the policy (I'm from the US), I've noticed that many vendors do this (most notably Steam). There must be a reasonable explanation. What gives?

A little more off topic: People who think Paradox releases a lot of expansions/DLC's for their games should check out RailWorks 2... that game has 82 DLC's and would cost over $1000 US to buy them all!

On gamersgate, its being sold £14.95. Which is equal to 16.95 euros or $24.47.

I believe alot of you said it was 19.95euros (£17.59 and $28.81) and $19.95 (£12.18 and 13.81 euros). So, its cheaper to buy it in US dollars then euros or pounds with pounds being 2nd and euros being rather expensive.

I think anywhere between £15 and £20 is a good price for an expansion and £3-£10 for additional add-ons (eg sprite packs and mods), those prices are achieved.

Since I only have 'regular' HoI 3 I hope for a HoI 'expansion' bundle pack with SF+FtM at a reasonable price ... or possibly a drastic lowering of the SF price when FtM is released.

That is allways what makes customers not so happy, That we support the other markets so much in this way. Ok, Bigger market etc..
But from a customer view it is allways hard to "understand" to pay more for the same goods.
You could allso make this comparision with cars. And well with alcohol too.
For the cars I hear already the fellow dutch guys moaning about their taxes and for the alcohol our scandinavian friends.. :D

But we live in a world where you could also order in Hong-Kong and pay even less. Or somewhere else on a market place and found it Boxed (!) "on sale" for even less..

For those who want to have it "instantly" and be sure to support P "the most", buy it at gamersgate.. ;)

Kind regards,
Chromos
