this game is probably the game i played most together with battlefield vietnam.....and because of new stuff added by paradox or modders and by changing teams and strategies in multiplayer games it still offers surprises and new situations what makes it still interesting to play. and that after more than 2 years of multiplayer playing an average of 3 hours 5 days a week, almost 2000 hours.

if this expansions isnt buggy and works and adds new stuff modders cant and gives new modding possibilities, i would even pay 50€ because i know i will play it more than any other game.

19 Euros including high taxes = 19 $ :(

Has nothing to do with it.

The USD has dropped a lot versus the EUR.
This is not related to the buying power of the average American.
In 10 years the situation could be the opposite (however unlikely) and we will hear Americans rant about how the Europeans over price their products on the American market.

10 years ago 1 USD = 11 Swedish kronors - then everything was expensive for me in the US.
Today 1 USD = 6.50 Sweish kronors - now everything is cheap for me in the US.

I am not saying that 19 money is the correct price.
Perhaps 10 money or 25 money are the correct price.

But 19 money is 19 money is 19 money.

I'll pay whatever it takes. This is my favorite game and new scenarios, fixes, & features keep it interesting. So long as they're doing good work, I'll find the money to buy every expansion. I'd expect a $20 price, but I wouldn't think twice about paying $50. By far, I get more entertainment per dollar out of this game than anything else I've found.

Lunch, if i buy it, is 7 bucks. movie ticket is 11 bucks. 20 bucks for a game that's going to give me anything more than 10 hours of enjoyment is a bargin. and being HoI it'll give much more than 10 hours anyway.

Should be free. We have put up with several major problems throught the games history which didnt get fixed until we payed for SF, so I think the fanbase deserves a thanks for taking it so well.

Fatasism aside, from £5-£14 should be reasonable. After all, its not as if its a totaly new game, meerly improvements to already fine systems.

And with the Partisan system, you now have an actual reason to play as France. ;)

Though, I'm confused on this. Is it just sliders like for the Spy system, or will you be controlling actual partisans?

$20 is a very fair price given the amount of hours I play this game and reflecting on how much Semper Fi improved the original - if FtM repeats that scale of improvement then we are much closer to greatness.

After all these expansions and add ons, a person could spend something like $75 on this game. Paradox sure has some loyal fans.

$75 for the amount of time I've spent on HoI3 is a bargain compared to some of the so-called "AAA" crap pushed out by large publishers these days.

They could just as easily call it HOI4 and require a fresh install. Be careful what you assume based on a name. I think it's wonderful that they are offering a new expansion for the game. Arguing price due to the perceptions of what it's called seems doomed to failure to me. But forgive me. I'm a pragmatist when it comes to capitalist matters.
garfield12.gif

So true. Paradox could do what CA did with Napoleon Total War and charge AU$100 for what was pretty much just an expansion (if you could even call it that) of Empire.

If we are talking about currencies and buying power then taking the bus to work for one week will cost me about 20€. Washing the car at a car wash will cost me 22€. Buying hot lunch at work will cost me about 5€. Movie ticket 12€.

20€ for something I will play countless hours isn't much. Don't tell Paradox, but I think it's a sweet deal :)

It's not about X money. It's that the ammount of money is independent from the currency used what bothers me.

we still dont have military control of minors and several other features from hoi 2 that should have been automatically in hoi3 FROM day 1.
ive ranted over this before but when hoi4 appears ive told a good friend to strangle me if i even attempt to think about buying it BEFORE the 2nd expansion. (ie before the game is playable and has the features it should have had on release.)

i've bought all three iterations, hoi 3 is more like hoi 1 in tech than hoi2 so hoi 4 hopefully will retain this system , tech teams were good but a stop gap until the hardware could handle the idea we have in hoi 3 maybefleshing this out some more for hoi4 would be great but im digressing.

i hope they make FTM into a bundle like doomsday was that will mean i can go and buy it in the shops.
a £5.00 expansion disc in a simple cd case would suffice , no expensive packaging just a re-used cover art and cheap as chips box.
the game is two years old so paying for the original alpha ... (sorry 'release worthy' copy.) ... alpha version of the game and letting us playtest it (and pay for the privilege) for them should not mean we have to have a larger pricetag for code most of us will have already bought, just the expansion material (a lot of fixing that should have been polished out before release and some new stuff (although for once ftm looks like it will have some more and decent NEW content.).).

How much should they charge? That depends on your perspective.

1) From a buyer's perspective as little as possible, say $5 or even free.
2) From the company's perspective as much as possilbe, say $50.
3) From an economic perspective, whatever the market will bear.
4) From a historical perspective, $20 at launch and lower after a few months depending on sales figures.

alternatively outsource the code so we can get an 'arsenal of democracy' for hoi3 sooner.
not that im saying nice idea shame about the execution, but...

seriously tho despite my scathing words this series of games is worth purchasing ( but maybe weaiting til it hits the bargain bin 1st since they ( all three hoi's so far.) really are not playable for at least 6 months from release except in the mode of 'play the game til it falls over with a fatal problem when ww2 starts.), i just hate having to wait years for the game(s) to be great.

1st two years the game is mostly a dumb blonde, promises but fails to deliver ;) then the bugs are finally mostly fixed.

the problem with this is £20 is too much for essentially an old game patched and a few new features (that are usually bugged and need patching soon after release anyhow.)
im a loyal hoi fan and have payed top dollar on release hoping to get an 'arsenal of democracy' version from the box and failed evertime thus far, so yes i begrudge paying £20 more two years later when i'd have been happy to pay £50 in the beginning. maybe i like honesty in pricing. if it needs that sort of income for this specialised game in a niche market then charge it but give me a polished piece of code on release. dont make me continue to pay until i spend £50-£70 over a period of time. thats the promise of the carrot dangled on the string in front of a donkey, and trust me i dont like being made an ass ...

What? Why are you talking about buying 1.00 again? You clearly already have it. You're paying for the new stuff in FTM. 20euros is pretty much the standard expansion pack price, certainly it is for ours. If that feels like too much for you, wait a bit until it goes on sale.
