How much i love EU1

Lately I have been playing Vicky. My EU2 cd got broken, so i ordered Vicky and HOI a while ago. I liked both, but Vicky's complexity is what thrills me a lot. I just ordered EU2 last night again. However i got a weird feeling. I thought i should check if anyone still plays EU1. So I went into the forums, saw some threads, that were by no means nice or answered nicely. So i went to my shelf and got my EU1 cd. I installed it, patched it, and suddenly i realized something. This game is great. The graphics might be a little aged, however it is still what it is-the game that made me love most Paradox games. I will deffinately play it along with EU2 and Vicky.

Why not upgrade to EU2? It's everything in the first one and more. Minus the Epochal events of the monarchs. Those were nice, gave a brief bio of the monarch. Would have been nice if all monarchs had them in EU2.

And to be more appropiate... I can suggest you dl many of the home made scenarios and modifications that are availible for EU 1, for even better game experience

I would instead agree with Franz Ferdinand (about something Mr. Waffen seems to have missed) - that EU1 and EU2 are sufficently different to be enjoyed as separate games, just like Imperialism I & II were in the days b.P. (before Paradox)

Due to lack of time I only play some EU2 Aberration (since I was in the crew that built that mod), but if I could ever have found my Swiss EU1 save I would have continued that one.

Hey Yoghurt i just downloaded your scenario pack and its great. I am very surprised that there is still an EU1 community. It is small but a very loyal one and thats all that matters. EU2 arrived in the mail today, I played it a little and i realized how different tha gamea are. For now I will stick to EU1 though. Started a good game with Portugal and will play it.

Whats up with these people telling others to leave EU1?
EU2 is a great game, but it has its own forum. I guess they are a little lost.

Yep the manage to lose their way every once in a while but all we have to do is bark and they run.

I guess they feel like they have been expelled from Paradise aswell being depressed over that they cant match the conquest speed of us who still plays on EU 1... thus the nagging and sour faces

Nah.. dunno their issues really... but Im glad you enjoy some of my scenarios

There is a way to keep revolt risk at bay in a non same religion province though IIRC. Something about having many sieges take place there in order to thin the population?

Aye, when the population goes below 5000 one can send settlers there and thus convert it Hmmm... wonder if that number can be changed

As said - you can convert provinces with <5k population. Winning a siege kills (iirc) 10% of the siegeing force in population (not across the 5k line though), then make them revolt again and siege until population is <5k, then win siege and convert with colonist.

The conversion event can be triggered by the event xxx cheat, although i do not know exactly which ID the conversion has...
