How much can I ignore the scorned families notification?

Until now, I always tried to avoid scorned families. It gives a nasty popup like it was a huge problem. But: A scorned family only has a 5% loyalty malus as far as I can tell. In contrast, a grateful family has a massive 15% loyalty bonus! Isn't...

Depends on the situation. That is the beauty of this game.
For me, scorned is not that big penalty (-5 loyalty) if you can choose a better character with better stats and prominence and overall loyalty (for the PI). Because it depends on every character, it cannot be made a rule to scorn a family or not. You just have to juggle jobs and characters, taking in consideration the scorned families bonus when it benefits you.

By itself, it does nothing. But it's Paradox, so your grateful families will give birth to a stream of imbeciles, and the one decent general you'd want for your legions will be from the scorned family, with a generations old hatred and assigning him will only boost the powerbase of some old scrooge who hates half your court and rivalred already your ruler, his wife and his heir. And is not that hard, build a couple of ports and everytime there's some scorned incompetent, send them to be admiral of some useless fleet. Is very pricey in terms of gold, but stable politics and loialities are very important.
