Will it actually be fewer? Kind of dissapointing. If they'll have larger provinces in the sense of regions (like in EvW maybe?) it'd sort of take away the enjoyment of encirclement I think.

Not a huge difference in number (maybe 10% less in some spots? Some added in places. It's not significant). Being able to do tactical movement over stack battles was a good feature of hoi3

Fewer, they are doing regions now from what I understood.
Well actually there has been no information given suggesting this
From the article "With regards to provinces in the game, the aim is to make it easier to control a large number of provinces with major construction projects being tied to a region (a group of provinces.) "

Well I guess that settles the issue of if they were going to go with a HOI2 vs HOI3 style of province count.

Since we are going with HOI3, please, please make addressing the tedium of micromanagement that was in HOI3. It sounds like the ability to use battle plans to make units attack will help when it comes to actually moving units around which is good. But another thing I found took far too much time in HOI3 was organizing your army and the OOB. I don't know how long it takes me to prepare for something like Barbarossa... almost as long as the invasion itself.

The provinces need actually not be as small as they are in Hoi3 to reflect most enciclements

Oh, great news! :D

However, if I may ask a question, how have they been distributed in the map? Is it similar to HoI3 in the sense that you had thousands of tiny provinces in places like Europe and North Africa, and provinces the size of France in a good part of the world? Or have you taken an approach closer to East vs West or Clion's Iron Heart (link to thread with the oingoing discussion), which try to keep province size more or less constant across the globe?

Can't wait for a DD on the map :)

What you are asking is already in HOI3! It takes less than 5 minutes to organize and move an OOB even if it has hundreds of divisions. I can´t believe that after 5 years a huge amount of people still don´t know how to use the incredibly useful in-game automation. Some players are spending 1 hour (!) searching for a leader when any leader can be found within 15 seconds or less. Since this seems to be causing a huge frustration with lots of players I am going to do a tutorial in my YouTube channel.

I also prefer the HOI3 provinces. I actually found it less confusing to have my army front nicely spread over a larger number of provinces rather than all stacked up in a bunch.

Excellent news!

It's tough to do meaningful encirclements and operational breakthroughs with enormous provinces, and both are vital to a WWII grand strategy game.
