Or maybe people just find the region less interesting than the other playable regions?

The 5th or 6th post in this thread was a guy claiming nobody plays in India, despite 4 or 5 people who posted before him who say otherwise. A few posts before yours, a guy claims he would pay money for a DLC that would remove India as a feature. That goes a little beyond "I just don't find it interesting, it's not my cup of tea."

honestly outside of the hardware strain do you think there's like a subtle racist undertones for people not wanting to play India. I get that vibe. Been on this form for close to eight years.

Not gonna lie, It's performance for me.

Many PDI players don't have top tier gaming pcs for ck2.
Many got cj2 because they have older potato pcs/laptops only.
I personally lost my shit when I saw pdx games In 60+ fps via you tube.

Also wish I could have toggles for each region to turn on or off.
I might want a india only thunderdome!

My only game of any length there, and also my most memorable one there was on the 769 start as that one OPM between the Abbassids, the small sunni kingdom to the east, and I think the zoroastrian duchy to the north maybe? Did about 30-40 years or so I think and got the entire sunni kingdom to the east, (I gained the first county just as I lost my original one, drastic reduction in power since the only border county into the east is garbage in upgrades compared to the original one) and then I ended it. I was trying out deadly plague at the same time and it kind of ruined things for me there. Since it seemed to get stuck (about 60 years of just sitting around fast pacing it and it was still there.) and made it so there was no supply anywhere, and no levies either.

If not for that I would have probably played on and conquered India or something. Maybe taken just that one original province from the Abbassids just because. (Abbassids took it in the end, but originally I lost it to a peasant revolt...)

Though to be fair RoI is pretty shit, there isn't really much of a point to India unless the player directly interacts with it. Even if you are playing right next to India it doesn't matter unless you intend to interact with India. They never do anything beyond India, and the AI from outside never does anything in there either. I always just see it form into the three kingdoms and then just stay there for the entire game, with the only reminder for its existance being the event for traders or whatever that give you an eunuch.

Most of my Indian games have been around Rajasthan and down south in Tamilakam, but my fondness for India probably stems more from my tendency to play a lot in Persia.

Having the eastern half of Iran not be bordered by a super artificial wall is such a blessing. It's pretty fun being able to expand in so many directions, and the sheer diversity of folks around makes it pretty interesting whether I'm playing a Muslim, Zoroastrian, Pagan or one of the Indian religions.

I had a few games, but my last one was a while ago. Like AllThat4Nothing said, I'm incredibly ignorant of the history of the region.

I did it converting Pandya Nadu to jain. In the end I had a demesne of 18 holdings. I got the achievement of the unpronounceable Samrat Chakravartin and I got bored. Playing india is like playing a minigame inside Ck2. India is so generic and has a lack of flavour that there are not a lot of reasons to play with. A fun game is the taghlibid kingdom. Go and form your early mughal empire, if you can.

I think:
One game as the southernmost Raja in 867
One game as a secret orthodox in Deccan but it was before secret religions were made overpowered and noone joined my going public.
One game as Zoroastrian Persian Emp. where I'd invaded Sindh but didn't bother after that.
I think I killed the Indian sunnis in my my yazidi ilkhanate game

Great thing with India is that I don't mind bordergore as much: if I conquer Holland as France I think the border's ugly. I know so little about India that I can blob all I want without something in the back of my head saying 'why!'

Wow 5 people playing India of sales of CK 2 of around 1,5 million copies. Really an achievement.

In every game people who post on forums represent barely 1% of the entire active base so while I understand the point you are making, it is faulty.

I don't like Indian culture(s) and religions (aside from Buddhism), I have not much knowledge or interest in this region, so I don't want to play there. Is it racist?

I like Chinese culture though, but still wouldn't want to play in China.

I started this thread because I wanted to know if I was the only one who never had played there even owning all the DLC's.

I don't know enough about Indian History to understand the area, but read the Eric Flint (Belisarius Series) and have a minor interest in the area as something different.....

I am wondering if it is like EUIV where all countries seem basically the same......except for a few buttons to push. (I have played in India in EUIV)

Either way I intend to start a game to at least say I tried it.

In CKII it is nice when you play Persia or Zunbil or nomads (except for the incredibly strong holy orders which basically guarantee status quo in case if India is surrounded by AIs), but playing inside India as an Indian was boring as hell to me (see disclaimer above though: I don't like and don't know this region). If you start not in the westernmost regions, you basically just boil in that limited space of the Indian Subcontinent with 3 religions which you could switch and which are mutually inferior at converting each other.

If you don't know history of that region, all the countries and characters there are basically the same. Probably can be compared to how the British Isles would look like to someone who doesn't know anything about Britain.

I don't have the DLC, but I probably will pick it up along with the next expac/update adding in Tibet and play with it then.

As for complaints that AI Dharmic religions never seem to stray out of India... IMO that depends a lot on the start date and what, if anything you are doing in the area. Last time I was playing a Zoroastrian game working to become the Saoshyant, and after beating up Habbari during a Holy War, Pratihara gobbled them up and I was fending off them as much as I was the Abbasids for much of the next century or so.
