How many mods do people use for Cities: Skylines? I subscribed to about 314 (assets, music and map) but had to delete almost all because I couldnt load the game. Now I have about 30 mods, mostly music but some for maps and LUT. Of course I would like to see Starbucks, McDonalds and many more in the game but things really became slow.

I have 16 GB DDR4 RAM with an Intel core i5 6500 CPU + Nvidia GeForce GTX1050i GPU.

Already before MT came out I decided to reduce the amount of mods I wanna use in this game. After it came out I reduced it down to 8 mods and 9 assets. However my favourite list is still very long and I'm not afraid to use it. :D

After play few game in vanilia I started to add few mod, less than 10 with only 4/5 "gameplay" like Fill the house, Power Rebalance or Life-cyle rebalance , but I recently removed them and only keep "UI"ones like unlimited tree, tree brush, ...

It's mainly because I want to keep the vanilla game-play balance even if it's not perfect, and avoid conflict.

However perhaps I will take few asset like a smaller bus station, the vanilla one is a way too big to suit the need of my city.

I did the same. I have very few assets like Shell and Esso gas stations, Starbucks, McDonalds, Burger King, KFC growable, 7-eleven, Subway, Pizza Hut, IKEA, baseball field, soccer field, kindergarten and music mods. They are spread on 10 pages on Steam and with each page containing 10 mods. So 100 mods isnt that bad. I like to have a variety of music so they were kind of mandatory. I have about 10 map mods. In game I think about 30 mods are active.

Too bad assets take so much RAM because there are some plenty of gorgeous assets on Steam.

Edit: shrinked down to 80 mods sharp.

I just checked, 128 mods/prop/asset. Don't know how to know the numbers for each quickly. I got only 2 gameplay mods, life-cycle rebalance and realistic pop and cons. The others are UI or cosmetics or tools to improve asset management/loading time.
Asset and props are cosmetics needs, as I wanted building a nice looking city. It's a fail for now, my city looks like an right angle nightmare, but I'm working on it.
I also had 3 asset for garbage management, 2 recycling centers and a bigger incinerator. But not sure if I'll use them.

I currently have 10 mods and 15 assets, which seems to be just about enough for my meager 4 gb of RAM. All of these mods are so crucial for me to the point that I will without doubt never ever even touch the game if just one mod stops working. I used to have more, but these are the absolute bare minimum to make this game playable in any way (for me).

Playing any city above 60k population already slows down the top speed almost to the levels of normal speed, so it's quite frustrating. Damn i have to invest in more RAM, so many great assets up in the workshop

I've tried to control my mod addiction. I did remove loads when Mass Transit was launched but currently I'm subscribed to 75 mods and all in including assets/custom maps etc my total is 3000. Less Steam and Loading Screen make it possible and my game loads in 6 minutes- which is an improvement since buying Mass Transit . Game slows quite a bit after reaching 100,000 but I'm willing to make the compromise in order to have the choice and variety of custom content at my fingertips.

All mods are not equal - some are huge, some are tiny. So the sheer number of them doesn't mean much.

Same with custom assets, BTW, which tend to take up far more memory than mods do.

I've seen people with 500 items being too many, and 2,000 running perfectly fine.

It would be nice if there was some measure of game impact available; the nesrest I know of is

Hahaha! Ikr...thankfully I organize them into collections based on the type of asset they are since steam removed the sorting feature for subscribed assets from C:S so it wont be too big of a headache. Also the Loading screen mod is helpful showing what assets are failing to load or are missing which is a great feature.

Just curious but why doesn't it show the icon that you own the game in your name sig thing....?

Does that depend how the game was bought...?

I once got severely hooked on assets etc to the point of the game taking way to long to load and then to run at what I considered to be an acceptable frame rate. I was like a child in a sweet shop without a sensible moderating adult being with me :D I loved how some districts were looking though, as the workshop as some beautifully created property themes. But for me it was just becoming too much.

I have around 30 or so mods loaded and around 15 assets....

107 mods, 2150 assets.

I'm using an ASUS N76VB (laptop) with an i7 3630QM, 16GB DDR3 RAM, 1.5TB 7200RPM SATA and an Nvidia GT740M 4GB, and the game loads in 4 minutes with the Loading Screen Mod. FPS is between 30 and 15, depending on where I'm looking.

Remember, a 100kb prop doesn't use anywhere near as much of the game as a 60MB train station. That is why two people with an identical PC can still get a difference level of performance.
This game runs on Unity, which loads every asset into the RAM whether you use it or not. (It was never designed for simulation games of this scale.) Not to mention if a collection of assets all use the same textures and mesh, the game still loads every single instance of them. Use the Loading Screen Mod, it allows assets to share a single mesh and texture, severely reducing system impact!

Also, you can't register the game, again, because Steam disabled the CDkeys for CSL again. I've owned this game for over a year and I STILL haven't been issued a CD key so I can register the game here. It is bloody ridiculous.

How many mods do people use for Cities: Skylines? I subscribed to about 314 (assets, music and map) but had to delete almost all because I couldnt load the game. Now I have about 30 mods, mostly music but some for maps and LUT. Of course I would like to see Starbucks, McDonalds and many more in the game but things really became slow.

I have 16 GB DDR4 RAM with an Intel core i5 6500 CPU + Nvidia GeForce GTX1050i GPU.

I've got in excess of 250 assets/mods/maps on an Ultrabook (XPS 13), runs fine.
