The time limit of the HoI games is 1936-1948. I'm sure someone will make a no time limit mod like they did with HoI1, but past 1948 there will be no events.

You could accomplish something similar by making an alternate history scenario yourself; what if Lenin had never been taken on the Sealed Train and had died in Switzerland? Before he arrived, even most of the Communist Party favored one type or another of social democratic goverment with some freedom. Try playing a Democratic Russia facing Barbarossa.

Rather a "What If"-stuff; war have a tendency to speed up military research. Besides I think these techs are fun to play with.

The highest armour you can get (from the files in with the demo) is a "Semi-Modern Tank", which I guess is a Centurion or M48 Patton - the kind of thing that was delevoped immediately post-war and used into the 60s.

You can get an entire nuclear navy (historically 60s) and air cavalry units (also 60s); Air-Surface and Surface-Air missiles that only really took off in the late 50s/early 60; ICBMs (late 60s); turbojet strategic bombers (B-47?).

So there is quite a bit of stuff that was only developed well after the war there. This is mainly included, however, so that players have the chance to ahve a bit of fun with very advanced technology that was at least on the drawing board in WWII.

It's not intended to allow you to simulate the Cold War, though I'm sure you could set up a scenario that starts in 1946 with historical techs and orders of battle, then see what happens.

It has been quoted by Johan that yes you will be able to influence the politics of your country, but that making something like the USSR go from communist to democratic would take way too long to do so in the timeframe of the game.

I am usually able to play until my first need for a toilet visit after some 10 hours. Next intervall will be a bit shorter as I am usually quite hungry by that time, if I have not prepared myself...

Well just so you know the cold war mod that began during HOI1 is probably going to be continued in HOI2. Don't know the thread off hand but its still there if ya check.

Youll be able to play until your mom comes in with a rolling pin, brandishing it threateningly at you, and requesting that you get off the computer ;)
