does anyone know where to get the Historical Immersion Project mod and may i please have a link for it i can't find it on the internet at all...
playing last year with CKplus from 869 on, Byzantium got obliterated at some point by the arabs shortly before year 1200. Greek nobility still managed to retain about a half of greece and I (venice) profited from all this to seize Athens and the Peloponesse...then, the caliph calls for a JIHAD FOR GREECE (?!?!) that should have had me steamrolled but the AI being dumb, they threw they numbers on me piecemeal and I defeated them in a massive battle, aided by several AI controlled christian realms by just capturing the caliph in battle, after much carnage.
Afterward, some greek culture "despot of Nicaea" popped up, seizing most of the asian part of Byzantium in a civil war.
MEANWHILE, on the other side of the mediterranean, Spanish kingdoms took the reconquista a little too far, and controlled all of north africa from morocco to algiers, so perhaps the caliph should had paid more attention to that flank...

The Byzantium turned a Theocracy and never had any more internal strife afterwards.
CK2+ will do it. Often because of religious instability.
