How is this game?

Hey guys, I am a new (keyword being new avid addicted fan to these 4x games and wanted to know what this game is like and what it entails. I been playing a lot of space 4x games ( love distant world ) fallen enchantress, warlock and all its downloadable content, civ 5 etc. So please let me know what this game is like and how steep is the learning curve is... Thanks all...
P.S. I am tossed between this game and CK2.

So, for the moment I would recommend getting CKII, and if you can find EUIII on offer, get that, and enjoy them both.

Uhm, i´d start with EUIII becuase EUIV isn´t even released yet.

But if you want to choose between CKII and EUIII, i´d personally recommend EUIII, it has been my first PI game, and it is great.
CKII is also fun, but it isn´t the same kind of grand strategy as VicII, or any of the HoI series.

I find it difficult to play EU3 since its engine seems so outdated compared to CKII. Victoria2/CK2 until EU4 is released would be my recommendation.

I'd say go with CK2 and Vicky 2 as well if you can - if that sort of game and/or timeperiod appeals to you.

CK2 for sure. Easier to pick up, far harder to master.

But EUIV is looking good, though as has been said, not out for the better part of a year.

Honestly i'd disagree and reccomend EU3 or V2, personally CKII always bores me after a while and have a lot more fun with sprawling empires and or leading relatively difficult nations to victory in EU3/V2 (One of my favorites was forming the Swiss empire of central Europe (basically the whole of france, Austria and Germany in a Victoria 2 game) whereas CKII gives a lot more in the way of intrigue, events and personality I always found it a little 'easier' than the other games but then what do I know

Also the EU3 engine isn't so bad if you get the full set (everything including DW) because then it feels a little better, plus graphics mods and so forth but then that's hardly required to enjoy the game.

It's also probably worth noting that neither EUIV or CKII are 4X games.
