I know I can change all these things with reform government and supporting factions, but it is still confusing how exactly to do that. I started as militarist, egalitarian, science council. That way I get demands to give full citizenship to aliens and cant get rid of aliens I dont like. I just would like to eventually be able to get rid of this ugly insect race that steals all my jobs, is lazy and there is no way of integrating them.

Its in the faction panel. You choose 'manage faction', and then 'embrace faction'.

Unfortunately, you have no control over which ethic you lose when you promote another one, which is an infuriatingly stupid design choice.

Might require testing, but I would assume that the default should be 'remove the least influential ethic of the 3 present'. But knowing Wiz&Co it might just be actual random.

@superhanz if you embrace, can you check whether the 'Embraced Other Faction' modifier ticks down ? It's supposed to last 120 months, but in my game was permanent and never counted down. I would like to know whether that's a specific or generic glitch.
