I understand Germany is probably the toughest foe in the game, but all the YouTubers make it seem so easy. I've done everything they've done (balanced industry, 2 24 width division of 7/2, close air support, invading then puppeting Britain, everything)! I construct level three forts along the low my Benelux border with Germany, I don't attack and they still destroy me. It literally feels like the game is broken and I'm goddamn sick of losing. Please advise.

Take out britain as soon as possible while you naval invade canada, then after you have capitulated both you invade america easily by putting as many units on border at canada as possible.

AI Germany largely uses infantry with heavy artillery for attack supported by stukas. So you need land units with soft and air attack for defense. Maybe something like this?

I'm not so good at the game so it's just an idea without guarantee :) Also have no idea about the doctrine.

Welcome to the forums.

If you would attach a saved game dated as close as possible to when the Germans launch their attack against France, you will be surprised how much good advice you will receive.

AIr superiority is impossible when fighting the Germans, I have 2 full stacks of 7/2 on the Benelux border, 20 width infantry on maginot and alps

Against AI you should be able to barely contest , the AI is dumb so you end up winning in the long run . If you don't feel like contesting you should put a lot of AA in your division .
2 full stack is far from enough , you should aim for 3-4 .
As for the template you can go 10 INF with ENG , support ART , support AA , signal . Or you can try 8 INF , 1 ART , 1 AA with the same support . Support AT can be useful to counter their tank too .

Try to aim for fort lvl 5 and don't forget to repair them .
After this germany will probably suicide rush into you and you will probably need to micro a bit your units to avoid losing land . Then you sit there for 2 years , the time to build good medium tank division and kill them .

France vs Germany is really boring anyway , you sit there doing nothing for years . Either germany pierce your defense and you lose in 6 month , either you hold the line and germany suicide 2M men into you . Or sometime they don't attack if they feel like they have no chance of winning but you can't attack either because france sucks , they don't even have an infantry (expert) and you don't have the industry to output tank division before 1942 .

Anyway you can always cheese , it's pretty easy to break this game , when it's not the AI that fuck up everything , last time Italy thought that guarding its border with 4 unit against a full stack was a good idea , i capitulated Italy with 20k men lost while the germans were next to Paris (i wasn't in the allies ,i wanted to try to contest germany air superiority alone . )

Way too many people try whatever gamey tactic they've seen on youtube rather than just using the core mechanics.

In three steps -

1. high level forts to make sure the Germans don't attack. I guess you will already do this.
2. maintain air superiority.
3. Heavy SP Art to smash through and encircle German divisions

It'll take a while but slicing up the German Army is surprisingly easy, especially once you get going.

Germany starts with many advantages over France in this game. More research slots, bigger industry, MEFO bills, better starting airplane tech, Germany can actually research doctrines, better advisors for land warfare, National Focuses that give bonus research to tanks can be completed much earlier than France so that at the start of the war Germany will likely have better tank technology. This means that unless you play your industry and research perfectly before the war you aren't going to be able to push into Germany.

Your first priority should be winning the air war which shouldn't be that hard if you have the combined industry and resources of the Benelux and Britain. Don't build CAS and TACs until you have destroyed the German fighters. Also don't try to outfit your infantry with 2 battalions of artillery use the industry instead to produce fighters. A simple 20w infantry division will be able to hold against Germany especially with contested air and if you defend behind the Meuse or Rhine river (sometimes you can make a push to the Rhine when Germany goes to war with Poland). This might require some micro of recycling deorged units with fresh reserves. After you win the air war you can start building TAC and CAS to damage German units and bomb his industry - also this is the time to start developing good tank divisions for a push into Germany. You have all resources of the French and British empire to help you keep churning out good tanks and planes - also the French starting navy is pretty good - so in a long game you will come out on top. France vs Germany is a long war.

Attacking Germany with 7/2s and without air superiority is suicide.
