Midway iwo jima Marshall island's gautal carnal ect? How important are they for the defense of Japan?

I see one glaring weakness in this game if Japan starts loosing on the sea there done because America can use the navy's plan instead of island hoping just blockade the island the just punch Japan in the balls (invade the mainland) so what is Japan's counter ? And how important in actuality are those island' chains in the Pacific to Japan

I think they are pretty important! First of all, you cannot bomb the homeland of Japan, if you lack nearby Airfields. Second, you cannot invade the homeland, because distance would be too far and you would have to establish a reliable supply route, since you don't want your soldiers to starve and die...

You can't get close enough to invade Japan from USA or Hawaii- Ships simply cannot steam that long without refeulling/resupply. Also land based aircraft can be launched from fields on these islands, giving further support to the region.

Is it possible to have civilians fight ?when this game is out I want to play out operation downfall(the planned allied invasion of Japan if we never dropped the bombs) that consisted of about 900,000 Japanese troops plus all of their tanks about 12,750 plane's mostly kamikaze and they were training civilians for mass banzi charges

The invasion of Kyushu would be on November 4th 1945 codenamed operation Olympic
With the invasion of Japan proper on March 1st 1946 codenamed operation coronet

Unsinkable air craft carriers is how I view islands in the Pacific. Keep the fighting away from your homeland and as far out in the Pacific as possible for as long as possible.

Are supply routes still an issue? I'm just getting lost in development iterations of it. If ships are supplied through warp-gates, then I'd go straight to main island for most high-priced VP.

No no no...you misunderstood a lot! It is not "Warpgate"...it is "Stargate". Commando SG-1 is delivering the stuff to the ships...

We still don't know the specifics of supplying ships deployed over seas as far as I know. You can dig up a few threads here and there and see comments about being supplied with "magical fairy dust" as a way for people to disagree with it.

Islands are giant unsinkable aircraft carriers, that can even support the biggest aircraft, which normal carriers cant support. You certainly wont start an big strategic bombing campaign against mainland Japan, let alone execute an big airlanding campaign if you need to operate from carriers. Those aircraft simply cant start from or land on aircraft carriers. Other than that those islands provide important supply depots and forward bases to resuply or repair damaged ships closer to the front.

Aircrafts are quite cheap but carriers are expensive. The island as said before while lacking the carriers mobility can support a large amount of cheap land based aircrafts for a low cost. These aircrafts pose a huge threat to enemy navies. The islands also extend the area your ships can operate in.

Another thing is that these island can also support radar stations which may provide significant bonuses.

Not directly

You can however just build a division and then immediately deploy it without any training, once they have all their small arms

You could even make a new division template for it, just 8xINF with 1936 arms and no support
