So my day one plan for HOI4 is to play a multiplayer game as America and join the Axis powers. And I was wondering how hard it would be to convert my country over.

I know it's at least doable, since the entire War Plan Red line depends on it:

My personal plan for this (involving an anti-British alliance with Japan but not the Axis) involves having anywhere between one to three other player countries boosting fascist popularity within the US, while I hire fascist ministers. We'll then have them stage a fascist coup, to which I will immediately surrender.

I don't know how well this plan will or won't work, though.

I would assume a lot easier than the UK (since the UK abolished all Fascists before the war started IIRC), and especially since the USA has a plan to join the Axis powers proposed by a senator, as far as I know.

Does that focus make america communist? I see the third stage has a hammer and sickle but the requirement for the first step is just non-democratic.

Historically "War Plan Red" was for the hypothetical event of a war against Great Britain (Hence the following focus Embargo the Empire [Britain]) and how to defend the Atlantic coast against invasion.

The one under that I THINK could be something relating to either turning Communist (not likely) or some kind of agreement with the USSR against Japan (War Plan Red also covered fighting simultaneous wars against Japan (War Plan Red-Orange) and Britain.

Now that's what I call an epic meme, but it's no where near the truth. Thanks for the laugh though, young one.

well to some extent, but with the FP trump as outlined, doesn't seem to do much for world security,
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...l?postshare=7161457193633556&tid=ss_tw-bottom

i think his more a isolationist more then anything that wants to blow of all current allies and align with all the other guys like russia. Pretty much like what LePen and a bunch of other far right/left parties across europe want to do.
Does that focus make america communist? I see the third stage has a hammer and sickle but the requirement for the first step is just non-democratic.

i think its a placeholder?

Probably not. We've already seen in the Minor Focus Tree that the Hammer and Sickle symbol is used also on focuses that aren't directly related to communism or only have thematic links. I think the Anti-Imperialism focus might improve US-USSR -relations or give a wargoal on GB, but I think it's a stretch to assume it causes government shift when the tree already requires it in advance.

Why would you want to make America Fascist? America is not America without liberty lol.

Capitalism is the liberty to pursue your livelihood without state intervention.

Communism is the liberty to earn the fair value of one's work, without the bourgeois taking the largest slice.

Fascism is the liberty to fully enjoy one's birthrights as a proud member of <nation> without either corrupt oligarchs or dehumanizing communists trying to scheme for their own ends.

It's all a matter of perspective.

War Plan red lets you align with the Soviet Union and attack Great Britain.

Its War Plan White with Embargo USSR - Unholy Alliance - Crusade against Communism thats get you in the Axis, or whats left of it if you do that (just like all axis members leave if Germany makes an alliance with the USSR, don't know if a similar thing happens here).

However, if I understand it right, thats just the moves you can make after your country already turned undemocratic. So you need the fascists to somehow gain strength in your country, then they start a civil war (or are simply elected, I don't know), and then you have turned fascist and can do what you want now.

I don't think we got an in-depth Diary about how these things work yet.

We are all the "fascist" of someone. This stupid argument need to die.
Yes, people will accuse each others of being racists, facists, mysogonists, and all sorts of things all the time to slander them.

This doesn't change the fact that these words still have clear definitions, and some people actually do, in fact, fall in under those definitions.

Can't go into further detail because it'd require me to list things re. Trump and other charming individuals that can't be discussed per forum rules.

It seems like any country can change its ideology slowly by recruiting a fascist minister to slowly turn the population towards fascism. This costs political power, and the USA has reduced political power prior to 1940. This, coupled with the fact that the US population will probably start out very much in support of democracy, means it will probably take a while for the USA to build up enough support for its government to flip to fascist. However, as mentioned it can clearly be done as certain national focus options depend on it.

Why would you want to make America Fascist? America is not America without liberty lol.
HOI4 does open up for weird and very unrealistic ahistorical paths. Far as I understand, it'll be relatively easy to make any country democratic, facist, or communist.

Won't it cause a civil war? Bit like trying to turn Spain fascist. Franco didn't just appoint a new minister to persuade people to support him ;)

Can't be done without overthrowing the Congress and ousting democratic politicians. Then if there is a war, you have no guarantee of winning. Especially if Mexico cuts off your supplies by building a wall.
