yes it does make a big difference all tasks use the cpu ram has nothing on how much cpu they use.

its like a water tank it has a hose and a storage tank for water
hose = cpu
tank = ram
no matter how big your tank is you can only put so much water in the hose at one time. the less stuff you have going to the hose the better performance you will have.

Sorry if this is a silly question.... But what precisely is the point of this test?

It seems to me that if you're going through a month in a couple of minutes you're going to miss huge ammounts of important things and make some disasterous mistakes.

Sorry if I'm being dense, but I just don't see what this is supposed to prove.

Yes I tried turning everything off. Also turning off AA, water, trees, lowering resolution doesn't help absolutelly - the lag is the same with max settings and with min.

Before I thought it's CPU problem since game uses only 1 core and it has only 2.66Ghz, but now I see that your CPU is the same.. What about graphics card - people running this game ok even with much worse cards.

It will show how fast days are running on certain system, the faster - the better perfomance.

Especially in multiplayer you just don't have the time to go from 1936 to 1939 at a 'normal' speed. Some people are 'speeding up' faster than others which means that some people will take HOURS just to get to 1939 with the US for example.

I doubt you'll be making a lot of mistakes going at a fast speed during peace times.

i have a very fast computer i guess i hand built this rig. i did a fresh windows install right before i got the demo so i know theres nothing on this computer. the hardware match probelm has everything to do with the performance difference. like mobo, hd, vd, and even cpu and vd coolers

This honestly comes as a big disappointement for me. I bought this PC for HoI3, hoping it would allow me to run the game fast lane style... and yet it's sill very very low under my expectations. I hope there will be a good patch soon, I trust PI for that...

My pc is 2 weeks old so i don't need to reinstall windows =]

I absolutely don't agree with you. It can be little difference on what HDD or motherboard we are using but 2.2min vs 1.2 min? It's impossible. Either you counted something wrong or this game hates ATI cards. How can cooler affect the perfomance if the components are cool enough?

It is still awfully sluggish for me. I'm playing Turkey and in 1937 (no war going on!) a day takes about 11-13 seconds.

This is on the following system:
Windows 7
Intel Core Duo 6400 (2.13Ghz)
3GB RAM
Nvidia 8800GTS 640MB

At highest speed the scrolling also becomes eratic and you notice the GUI becoming less responsive.
