How fast are your games Megathread (was : Speed test)

using modded lua files things are going about 1 min 45 secs for me on an i7 while fine for me, the lower end needs improvement so we can actually play multiplayer!

hmm... without the modded .lua files my system took 9 min, 33 sec to complete September 39 in the Blitzkrieg scenario. Have not tried with the modded files yet, but that is another matter. I am playing windowed now to view task manager, and to see how the game uses CPU resources. Even running at full speed and clicking buttons and so on, HoI3 rarely uses more than 50% of my CPU power. I have only an Intel Pentium 4 (single) 3.00 gHz processor. I am wondering then if the problem is almost totally unrelated to PC specs but instead has to do with inherent flaws in the game's code?

The rest of my stuff: Radeon x1650 pro and 3.5 GB RAM

Is it my GPU?

Game month speed is about 6 minutes. Little to no effect from the lua patch. graphic options also seem to have little to no effect. Changing screen resolution to 1024 and centering on an ocean piece at full zoom speed things up a a fraction but not enough to shave a full minute.

I tried the demo and it was pretty much unplayable... not surprising, since my specs are 1GB RAM, 2.2 GHz processor and Radeon X1300XT graphics. However, I was wondering, just how much does patch 1.1 improve performance? I love HOI and was pretty disappointed that I couldn't play HOI3 Is there any chance I'll be able to get it working?

you need to upgrade everything, but a video card is a good start. RAM is cheap, so max out your slots. Your CPU is too slow, but you might be able to run the game...I wouldn't hope for much though.

Not much chance of upgrading, I'm getting that card cheap second hand from a friend, don't have the cash to upgrade. Ah well, thanks anyway.

Never had speed isues neither with the demo nor with the full version.
(all settings at max, trees, water and 8xAA)

OS: Vista 64
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad 9550 (E0) @ 3.4 Ghz (FSB 400)
Mainboard: Asus P5Q-E
RAM: 8 GB
Grafikcard: Nvidea GTX 260²

This speed (at max) is way to fast for a game as complex as this - maybe I'm a perfectionist but I have never found myself running the game at above speedlevel 3 when I play my campaign. (Not even pre war)

I could actually live with halve the max game speed without even noticing it.

i started as romania in '36... it's now jan 1942 and it doesn't matter which speed i put in... every game-hour needs at least 10 seconds... i can't scroll or even move my mouse correctly.. i have to pause the whole game to change the sliders or choose another objective...
yesterday i started my savegame a 9 in the morning, put everything on ai control, went to the bathroom, breakfast, played with the cats, watched a movie etc. at 13:00 i got back to the game... hooray 4 months later

btw. i've an athlon quad core 4800 with 4 GB ram and windows vista


but i will take a look at the modified lua files... hope this will help me
