what, exactly, triggers a revolt in provinces i own? if i have peasants who are disloyal but have only 5% power, will i still get a revolt? will the revolt last long and how big will any potential rebel armies be?

If one of the 4 groups within a province has less then 10% power then you may see a revolt in that province. It doesn't matter which group it is.

The evolt system is totally done by events, so there is no exact time on how long it lasts. IIRC making sure that each group has 10% power, have a court-house in the province, having high efficiency and not raising the province-regiment increases the chances of the revolt ending.

The size of the rebel-army depends on the province-income. The higher it is, the larger the rebel force will be.
