No DLC, still on 1.23.1 due to 1.24 breaking my save.

I'm Russia, in the 1610s. I wish to better my trade income and trade is flowing away at Samarkand (and Siberia). The problem is that I can't seem to place those nodes within range to send a merchant to.

My trade range is around 250-ish (don't have the game on right now) and Samarkand is 567 away according to the tool tip. Siberia is about 700 away.

I'm colonizing my way into Siberia right now. I'm working on the first province in the Western Siberia territory and have four(?) full colonies to the west of that.

On the southern end, I've absorbed Kazan whole. It's about where the "subjugate Kazan" mission ends, with a border with Nogai all the way running just short of Astrakhan province (it's right on my doorstep) and the northern bank of the Black sea (Azov, Crimea and Theodoros are mine, but everything east of Theodoros is Ottoman).

I still have a few spare states I can form, but I'm also waiting for institution spread (both printing press and global trade, they've moved over the 10% threshold, but I don't have the 2000+ ducats each to embrace, so it's turned into a massive waiting game).

How can I get either trade node within range?

Preferably, I'd like to send a merchant to Samarkand to steer trade to the north, but a merchant to Siberia will work as a second best, as currently all trade value is southbound to Samarkand instead of Westbound into Kazan. I have merchants where necessary to steer trade towards Novgorod and can spare a merchant collecting there to steer trade at Samarkand / Siberia.
