I mean like, EASF + selfcast.

How much Magick can it take before it goes away? Or is it just time limited? And what is the time limit? How does it interact with a self-shield?

It's just time limited, and it's something pretty short like 15 seconds IIRC. Not sure exactly what you mean by how does it interact with a self-shield, because I don't believe it does...also not 100% sure but I think a self-shield protects you from elemental effects such as getting wet / catching fire etc.

Self-Shield protects you from everything except knock-back/down and I don't believe you can be one-shot unless the damage has multiple ticks. Also, immunity is the best way to remove secondary effects.
So if I'm wet and I selfcast EQ, the wet status effect will be removed? That's cool.

I'm trying to figure out how to use Thunderstorm and allow myself to live through it 100% of the time... I'm finding it rather difficult, and I think that magick immunity will be able to help me, somehow. Any help would be appreciated.

I think Yetis can still one-shot you

As mentioned by eyol3, lightning immunity aka AE will help a lot. But I think you'll have to cast it multiple times, as the Thunderstorm will last longer than the immunity.
