I personally like but I really wish they had done more to reflect the political situation of the ERE better (still feels to fedualish) and there is still no real way to take the throne like so many emeperors did (coups, killings, riots) I like the flavor events and decisions especially the one were you can claim Constantinople if you become emperor but don't hold the city (good job on putting that in P-Dox;)) So What do the rest of you think of LoR is self not 1.07.

I am LOVING the unique major events, I've gotten two 'chains' so far. Once the major DLC packs are behind us Paradox should think about flavour/event packs.

You know that the factions presents the coups you claim aren't in the game. Not to mention that assassinations work as well.

Yes and no the factions do allow coups but the people that can overthrow the emperor are his relatives I'm talking about people who are not related to the emperor taking power through a coup, like Nikephoros III overthrowing Micheal VII Doukas but the way things are set up in the game that can't happen.

Factions need work. I want more options to interact with them and why does every faction is "bad" and you only have the option of yes or war. Feels boring.
And huge civil wars everytime a ruler dies is not fun for me.

As far as what was implemented, I think they did a great job. I would have liked to see more features to distinguish the Byzantine form of government from that of the west, but at the end of the day I'm having fun with it, and that's what really matters.

The event chains are a lot of fun. Both the imperial and greek culture ones. I still haven't seen them all; waiting for the varangians to pull some shenanigans. Eunuchs are great. Using seniority succession, I have become very uncomfortable having anyone but a loyal eunuch as my spymaster. Castration is a great way to trim your succession. And born in the purple is an awesome layer on top of succession laws.

Enjoying factions, though I think the reputation cap for not joining/starting one should be a bit lower. Vassals with +50 opinion of you shouldn't be banding together to cast you down, it makes a necessity for constant micromanagement detract from the fun of factions somewhat. Still, system is a great improvement.

In my current game the Pope launched a failed Crusade against Jerusalem. After they got curb-stomped I swooped in and took Jerusalem for the Empire. Enraged, the hedonist impaler-Pope (known as the Wicked) launched another Crusade against me! The Seljuks also piled on top. After a decade of fighting against the whole of Persia and Catholicism I had the great pleasure of capturing the Pope and castrating him.
Take that yah git!

I love LoR.

I've really enjoyed it so far. I don't know enough about the inner workings of the Byzantine government to talk about how it should be better represented in the game, but it seems fun as is. I would only echo others and say that factions could use a bit of tweaking. It would be neat to see "good" factions...perhaps even factions to "counter" existing factions- eg. a faction to support the emperor and end an independence/crown authority faction if you gain enough support. Don't quite understand the point of retinues yet. Born in the purple is awesome. New events are neat.

One thing I was hoping to see was some sort of a tweak where an AI liege could potentially shower you with rewards and/or give you more land/power based on your support. Or at least some sort of a reputation boost for being extremely loyal. In a few games, I tirelessly supported the Emperor in wars, even when almost every other vassal was arrayed against him. Time after time. Throw in being the major contributor in his foreign wars. Using plots and assassinations to end plots/factions against his rule. Not a word of thanks! Seems a little goofy.

Loving it. The new event chains are great, and I was at the edge of my seat for a certain pirate related chain. Factions are a great idea, and a step in the right direction. Hopefully updates will tweak them/work out a few of the kinks. (for example, the extra troops event is a good way to even odds, but gets really silly in large empires, turning peasants into an attrition-less mongol horde--still totally beatable since you only have to siege the faction leader, but still feels off, especially how they instantly gather in one place--a bunch of smaller, spread out, unorganized "allied" armies might work better).

@Gavinn, they do have a bit of that. As Doux of Athens I took Reggio and became Doux of Calabria, and then when the emperor conquered Cantanzaro (the other county in the duchy), he gave it to me. Later I joined a faction to lower crown authority and he gave me the honorary title "Kouropalates" to win me back, so I left. I realized playing a loyal vassal is actually pretty awesome as you don't have to worry about factions but can be really powerful. I have more troops than the emperor now although not as much money.

I like it but i also wish paradox made the retinue system more like sengoku where you have complete control over what it in your retinue, and not just a few pre-determined choices.

Events are good. Faction system inferior to the revolt system that was in ck2+ prior to 1.07. Retinues ahistorical and pointless. Orthodoxy changes fun, sure, but mostly affect boring areas not much fun to play anyways. This DLC is not near as good as SoI and I hope the next is better.
