I like to play Lithoid-Necrophages with Lithoids being born as “Magmas” and later they elevate to “Obsidians” living on Dormant Inferno. I think the visual part is self explained on the screenshot.

That's a really cool idea, especially for a necrophage criminal megacorp. I'd like to imagine that the effect is so subtle that the pops don't even know what happening to them, they just go into a doctor's office (chamber of elevation) and come back out in a month or so of "hard treatment".Fun fact- the self-replicating non-living molecules that cause Mad Cow, prions, actually function by 'crystallising' brain tissue. Granted, such crystals are generally something you need an electron microscope for, but a lot of technobabble is based on extrapolating things like this. Why not have your Lithoids be living prions, forming a crystalline structure within the brains of their unfortunate hosts, eventually outgrowing them and assimilating external minerals into their superstructure?

Yeah, I just had a feeling that “magmas” sounds cooler than “lavas”, so I gave them that name. But you are right, the lava would be a more correct name for them. But only subterranean civilizations can be "magmas", once they reach the surface they have grown into their "laval" stage.
