1. YES! My lifelong interest in WW2, the fact that I thoroughly enjoyed EU1 and EU2 and was hoping for an 'upgrade' to modern times.
2. Majors and minors, currently mostly in the european theater, but that will expand when the novelty wears off.
3. No, I have Bolts mod on my HD, but I haven't used it yet. I believe I first need a thorough understanding of the game (in other words be able to beat it regularly on hardest settings) before I turn to mods.
4. Mostly 1936 for the 'what ifs'. But also 1939 for a harder time and more historical settings.
5. Hard/very agressive
6. When I know I've won the game, when I've reached my personal goals, when I'm annexed (will happen if you play alot of minors :D)
7. Not using any exploits like the build fortifications on the belgian border playing france, using paratroopers to capture all the keypoints etc.
8. Yes, a lot of worries and stress :) a different ballgame, a different league :)
9. The technology tree, the generals
10. The sometimes irregular actions taken by AI (which is understandable, I mean as a programmer you can't make variables for every mindtwist a human has), bugs :)

1. Do you own HOI and if so, what caused you to buy it?

YES. Like history, strategy and strategy games especially WWII. Like EU and EUII

2. What country or type of country do you prefer to play? Why?

USSR. Germany are favorites, but can play any country.

3. Do you use any mods? Why or why not?

No.. I don't like the hassle of new installations. I like to have a standard game for a common reference with other players.

4. What scenario do you play most often? Why?

I played all scenarios. 39 is historical, 41 is more challenging for Germany... 36 is intellectually challenging.

5. What difficulty levels do you normally use?

Always very hard.

6. At what point do you typically quit a game?

When total victory is certain.

7. Do you impose any additional (not enforced by the game) rules on your games? If so, why?

Limited use of paras... Otherwise too easy....

8. Have you ever played multiplayer? If so, how well did you like MP?

No but I am looking forward to the experience.

9. What do you like best about the game?

Great game overall.. Ability to play any country... All aspects (military, diplomacy, research, economy) covered.

10. What do you like least about the game?

Weakness of the AI.

Weakness of the AI.

If you don't like 10, then do 3. Basically Bolting your HOI and / or Tripping it is no hassle and then 10 just won't be that much of a problem anymore.

:)

PS : common reference is Bolting & Tripping :p

PPS : Although Trip is now on the Dark Side ;)

1. Do you own HOI and if so, what caused you to buy it?

Yes, because EU2.

2. What country or type of country do you prefer to play? Why?

Soviet Union, because with SU you don't need to play with convoys :)

3. Do you use any mods? Why or why not?

Bolted, and just downloaded Generalisimo's claims mod. More events and more realistic/playable.

4. What scenario do you play most often? Why?

1936. Gives you time to prepare, and better chances of chance history.

5. What difficulty levels do you normally use?

I first used normal/normal, but now starting to play hard/aggressive

6. At what point do you typically quit a game?

When I get bored, or when I'm won the the game.

7. Do you impose any additional (not enforced by the game) rules on your games? If so, why?

Nope.

8. Have you ever played multiplayer? If so, how well did you like MP?

Nope. Don't have internet connection right now..

9. What do you like best about the game?

Tech tree and music.

10. What do you like least about the game?

Convoys. Don't now why, I just hate them...

1. Yes, I own it! :) I like EUII and interested in WWII period, so got it.

2. I like to play Japan the most! Because it is my home country and I am interested in WWII Japan the most.

3. I don't use any 'mods'. I never really use those in games, but just play them how they are. I like keeping my game how it is.

4. 1936 Road to War Campaign. I like it because it starts at an earlier period, so I mobilize my men and build my forces and everything before the war. Also, war with China usually starts in 1937. Don't want to miss that. I like to do all of that diplomacy and economy stuff in the years before the war actually starts too.

5. Normal for aggressiveness and difficulty. I am still not too skilled of yet, so can't go too hard yet. :D

6. I am still in my first. :D It is a long game. In 1941 or 1942 now.. 1936 campaign.

7. No, not now. I am playing normally and very very challenged, so can't add more challenges yet. :D

8. I didn't try multi-player yet.

9. I like being able to play different countries, the history and the feel of the game, the complexity, the music, and others. I like controlling the diplomacy, economy, government, and the other country-leading aspects.

9. What do you like best about the game?

10. What do you like least about the game?

1. Bought EU 1 and II and loved reading the various AAR's on this board...then the road to HOI was close :)

2. Italy or Japan....i like to play aggressivlly but still being the underdog.

3. Have not played with a MOD yet...but have downloaded BOLT's 1.02c now and plan on starting a MP game in LAN next week...vacation coming up :)

4.Only 1936 scenario this far. Like to choose my own destiny :)

5. Very hard/Agressive.

6. When i have won...or lost. ( In MP, when we agree to quit)

7. Dont play with Paratroopers...do not build Subs past the starting quantity...gamebreakers in my opinion.

8. Well MP is the best way to play theese games..AI can never replace a human opponent.

9.I love theese types of games...played the Battleground games to death..besides im a History freak...well maybe not as much as some of you guys :)
The thought of outdoing historical commanders (even though the hindsight favors me) i find entertaining :)

10. AI is too weak .....the rest i can live with or work around...for the moment :)

2.Italy a lot of everything and Germany too easy though.

3.No Mods yet...

4.Only played 36-48, i wanna play as long as possible :)
I like to resarch alot.

5.Hard/Aggresive

6. When i beat the major opposition or when im too big for my own godd :)

7. No werid stuff, Italy declares war on Germany orrussia allies with germany. I try to keep it historical.

8.Yeah, i liked it as long (or should i say as short) it lasted...

9.Timeframe, Scope, all possibilities

10.Except the numerous bugs. The poor UK AI and that there are no waffen SS or other elite units in the game.

1) Yes. Didn't buy it though. I would if I didn't have it.

2) All the ones with a significant WWII history that aren't the US as 1000 IC is a bit much. So pretty much the other 6 majors. I've played them all and I like the diversity. Atm Germany is my fave as I am in a panzer phase, before it was the UK and the navy and soon it could be sommink else again. The UK would be my overall fave though, I like island nations.

3) No, just the latest betapatch.

4) '36 only, I like the few extra years to shape my country according to a more personal preference.

5) Very Hard/Normal.

6) Arrival of a new betapatch.

7) Yes, because I want to feel like I am leading a nation in WWII, not that I am playing some bytes in a game. Using exploits or whatever is detrimental to that effect.

8) Yes. With a good set of players this is the best.

9) Personal fave is the tech tree, I love it, even if just to read it.

10) I loathe managing airforces.

1. Do you own HOI and if so, what caused you to buy it?

Yes, pre-ordered from UK importer and had it delivered a few days after US release :D After the EU/EU2 experience I have only good things to say about Paradox so HOI was an automatic buy (I'm also very much into WW2 strategy, logistics etc).

2. What country or type of country do you prefer to play? Why?

Germany, NatChi and maybe USSR - basically the great land powers although I have also played UK and Japan. For naval combat, I'll stick to the Harpoon series.

3. Do you use any mods? Why or why not?

Only a couple of events to open up the French front in the '36 scenario. I'll wait for the game to mature a bit before looking at user-mods.

4. What scenario do you play most often? Why?

'39 for historical progression and instant fun, '36 for trying to change history. Tend to stick to relatively historical play though.

5. What difficulty levels do you normally use?

Normal.

6. At what point do you typically quit a game?

When victory is inevitable but delayed by something that will take ages to finish.

7. Do you impose any additional (not enforced by the game) rules on your games? If so, why?

Yeah, no exploits. It just ruins the game if you go for certain ahistorical methods (para-conquest etc).

8. Have you ever played multiplayer? If so, how well did you like MP?

Yes and it's awesome :D :D :D

9. What do you like best about the game?

Amazing scope of game, allowing a freedom for the player that's unparallelled, while retaining some historical "feel".

10. What do you like least about the game?

Naval combat.

1. Do you own HOI and if so, what caused you to buy it?

- I so own it! I bought because I loved EU and EU2 and because of the fact that Paradox responds to the people that buy their games and adjust the games accordingly.

2. What country or type of country do you prefer to play? Why?

-I like playing as Canada because so few games ever acknowledge the commonwealth. I also like playing as any other minor just to see what I can do.

3. Do you use any mods? Why or why not?

-No just because I'm lazy like that.

4. What scenario do you play most often? Why?

-'36 so I can adjust the country the way I want to and plan for the war that I know is coming.

5. What difficulty levels do you normally use?

-normal/hard

6. At what point do you typically quit a game?

-When I've won

7. Do you impose any additional (not enforced by the game) rules on your games? If so, why?

-Not really but I don't use the strategic bombers because they seem to do way too much damage in one raid. An hour's bombing shouldn't completely cripple a province for three months.

8. Have you ever played multiplayer? If so, how well did you like MP?

-No I don't have the time.

9. What do you like best about the game?

- Its just about what I've always wanted. I have faith that Paradox will make it all better. ;)

10. What do you like least about the game?

-The AI. Most of the bugs have been fixed but I feel like I am beating up on my little sister.

1. Do you own HOI and if so, what caused you to buy it?
Yes, enjoyed EUII and was looking forward to better naval combat promised in HoI.

2. What country or type of country do you prefer to play? Why? Majors or minors that can have an impact (i.e. Romania). I enjoy battleships and watching the map turn the color of the country I am playing.:D

3. Do you use any mods? Why or why not?1.02...anxiously awaiting 1.03 for the AI improvements.

4. What scenario do you play most often? Why?'39 as anyone other than Germany. '36 as Germany. For some reason Germany always gets whipped by the Soviets if I don't interfere in the the '36 scenario.

5. What difficulty levels do you normally use? normal/normal.

6. At what point do you typically quit a game? when I get bored....or...I realize that DoW'ing Germany as Switzerland was a bad, bad idea.:D

7. Do you impose any additional (not enforced by the game) rules on your games? If so, why?As a neutral, I tend to side with whoever is losing to keep the game interesting/balanced.

8. Have you ever played multiplayer? If so, how well did you like MP?No, no non-work internet connection at the moment.:(

9. What do you like best about the game?Leader pictures.

10. What do you like least about the game?Constantly have to watch my IC sliders to maximize them. In EUII, if you put more than needed into a slider, it still contributed something. In HoI overpaying is useless in most categories.:( I'd like to see the AI automatically divert overpayments in unit production, tech, and dissent to other categories.

Smartest thing I've heard about the sliders in a few weeks. Did you post this in Enhancements forum? Just diverting all over-payment to supplies would work nicely.

1. Yes I do own it. I saw it on a shop before christmas. I thought that the EU II makers had made new game and went home to check reviews of the game. I really did not expect the game to be as buggy as it has been. Nevertheless I have been playing it a lot. I also own EU II.
2. Germany. why? The blizkrieg of course! I'll play Finland and Japan later.
3. I have used all bolt mods and the tech patcher. They make the game much more playable and correct some minor annoyances.
4. I allways play bolts 36 scenario. I like the planning and preparing for the war.
5. Later I used normal, but nowadays I use hard and aggressive bcos the ai did not fight back enough.
6. Well I'm a bit perfectionist and I have started the game over and over again because of some bugs and when I think I have done something wrong. I once played until I had taken moscow. I think you have made the point if you can defeat USSR as germany.
7. I normally use only few, say 2-3 paras. I like to play quite historical way. I use brigades.
8. Nope.:(
9. The leaders allthough there is work for Paradox int them. The brigade system.
10. AI should use brigades. We as well as AI should be able to bomb ships in ports but then again how do you target the port as you can only target provinces. UK should have more infantry on their island. The winterwar! Italy beats UK in africa too easily. Techs. some minor countries had more techs in 36 as they have now. Finland had submachinegun in early 1920s. Not to mention infantry guns every european country probably had 70+ mm guns. Poland should have 2-3 tank divisions(they were quite crap but could spook infantry though), and maybe one more cavalry unit. Now I can think a lot more but maybe thats enough for now. :D

Anyway I want to say is that the basic concept of the game is good. I like the game. I like EU II too. Nuff said!

1. Yes. Always wanted EXACTLY this type of game. Also, Buying EU on a whim and following up with EU2 did nothing to dampen my expectations when I found out HoI was next in line.

2. Minor majors. I will probably go on to play regular minors as I somehow always go for the underdog approach.

3. Just about to do that in my next game. I'll try Bolted 1.02c. Although I already think the game is good most people seem to agree this mod only makes it better.

4. 1936. I always go gor the longest campaigns no matter what game I play.

5. Medium or higher, every game I play. Since my last game seemed a little easy it's time to max out the settings and apply some mods.

6. When it's game over. I don't usually quit until I'm totally and utterly beaten or have been proclaimed winner.

7. No, I don't exploit bugs though.

8. No, 56k connection.

9. The scope. Global WWII action!!

10. The micromanagement. I want that "reincforce/repair entire corps" alternative badly
