To make a party a third party, it should have third_party for that last value, Status. An example:
Code:
CAN;14315;Communist Party;1921;2000;communist;planned_economy;protectionism;atheism;limited_citizenship;jingoism;all;all;third_party
For it to be a regular party, simply have status as x.

Also if you want only a certain culture to vote for it, replace Culture with the culture of your choice, ensuring only that culture can possibly vote for it. In addition, even if you make a party a major party, under a two party system, it may not come up as that. I hope that is the information you were looking for.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for.

I have another question though. Is there a way for you to make it so when the game starts, a party is automatically banned, but still exists?
No. The only way to do that is to have an event at startup which bans the party. I might be wrong though.

Hello. Pardon my ignorance, but what is the point of defining a country as minor? What sort of parties should be minor? Wouldn't just election results in itself be enough to define what sort of parties people vote for?

If you define a party as minor, it doesn't get as many votes at the polls. For instance, if you were to make the parties for the present day United States, Democrats and Republicans would be "major" parties while the Reform Party would be "minor". It makes it more realistic without taking away the option that the party offers.

A major party will get the vast bunch of the votes of its ideology. A minor party will only get votes from people who met exactly their issues.
POPs voting on ideology will always prever the major party. And  if the major and minor liberal party of a country both meet the required issues of a POP he will also vote the major party.

But when I remember it correctly it has something to do with the party id too. Low ids are preferred to high ids.
