While figthing with minor nations its not that hard but when fighting aganist France or Russia with Germany if I click automation even for one second things get messy around here and I cant keep track of my units and operations they usually win but I absolutely have no fun winnig like this ?

So how do you keep track of your units in big scale wars ?

Also if I attack an enemy army with 15 divisions my army fails to achive that province but if I halt us %30 of those units I won why this happens ?

combat power depens on your land combat tech

look at the different techs, some give +org to your units

if you fight with weak units, you'll achieve nothing. also dig in bonuses and river crossing affects your combat power.

to keep track of your units, you should create army and corps hq and connect them.. if one army is full, create a new to connects corpes.. then add the armys to an armygroup and that one to your theatre hq

Automating a theater is dangerous to do in the middle of a campaign. I wouldn't give it to AI control in the middle of the fighting. The AI will shuffle them around like you've seen.

So how do you keep track of your units in big scale wars ?

I either automate a theater from the outbreak of hostilities, or I just micromanage the whole thing. However, since I know where my schwerpunkt is at all times, I focus much more on that than anything else. When I achieve a breakthrough, encircle and destroy enemy divisions, then I am not super worried about the line divisions running pinning attacks on the enemy line.

Also if I attack an enemy army with 15 divisions my army fails to achive that province but if I halt us %30 of those units I won why this happens ?

If you are attacking enemy positions with 15 divisions in a single-axis attack, then the stacking penalty and width are killing your offensive firepower. I'd recommend the strategy guide to help explain some of these concepts further: http://www.paradoxplaza.com/books/hoi3communistcampaign

I normally use AI for most of the front and then manually drive my special forces and mobile units. It gives me something to do while the AI does the scut work.

Stacking penalties and frontage widths are important concepts in HOI3. Normally, if you're attacking from one direction, only about 3 divisions or so of troops can fit into the front. Additional divisions will contribute nothing unless the front line units drop out, and will actually get in the way. Beyond about 5 divisions engaged, there is a penalty applied to ALL of the units in the province. By making attacks from multiple provinces, you can add to the frontage and avoid stacking penalties.

Terrain, combat doctrines, and leader bonuses all contribute to the effectiveness of a unit in combat. If you're attacking a unit across a river that's well dug into a mountainous area, you're going to need Engineers and/or attacks from multiple directions to have any chance of success.

Some players prefer to create smaller "Theaters" and put smaller command groups (not entire Army Groups) into each of them. You get better overall control than defining one or two massive theaters and letting the AI do whatever it wants. I tend to play minor countries to avoid the issue, and haven't "completed" a game with a major power in the past few expansions without getting bored and quitting because of it.

The answers to your question are in this post: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...al-Take-2.&p=13848462&viewfull=1#post13848462

The easiest way to keep track of your units is to start out with a clear and precise plan. Take the time to write stuff down, if you have to. Pause and check whenever you get turned around. You wouldn't believe how many times I sent divisions to Minsk when they were supposed to go to Leningrad. After a while, it becomes second nature.
