I am very interested in the politics of wiki, so I'd like some help with these types of regimes. Now I know which party favours what and I know how to get them to power by legal or illicit means, gotta love the odd revolution.

However, the trick is keeping them there. Let assume I want a Proliterian Dictatorship, I naturally want the Communists in power. But eventually militancy gets unbearable so I have to give up and go back to a democracy. Militancy takes a hit of a whopping 0.50. But that's only for the communists. Naturally everyone else wants Lenin to start pushing up daisies. So my question is how do I "re-educate" my pops to Communism, teach them the beauty of Anarcho-Liberalism, show them the glory of the Reactionaries, or burn the way to the Fascist paradise?

Low taxes..also if you have enough POPs keep a division in every province. These things are pretty much only possible in late game though :( .

EDIT: Of course that will only surpress them, not reeducate them. There is a tech, "ideological thought" I think, that can help with that. But only slightly.

The Iron Fist: Station divisions in every province that seems likely to rebel. That 0.20 militancy decrease is a godsend.

Also, make sure to have lots of clergy to decrese Con, and (although it is late) get mass politics.

If you're a constitutional monarchy, you can install an extremist party and revoke voting rights. You can act like a dictator without the MIL penalty from pluralism. I play Revolutions, so I'm not sure if this is applicable to vanilla Victoria.

Edit: Apparently if the CON of a POP is low enough, they'll assume the ideology of any extremist party in power. Since farmers/labourers have their CON lowered with every clergy POP in the state, you should design your society around farmers/labourers/clergy and minimise industrialisation. At the moment I'm playing the Ottomans with the Janissaries (Reactionary) in power and over 50% of my POPs are Reactionary.

But for regime like those headed by fascists, anarcho-liberal and communist, Vicky/Ricky lack a key component of that sort of regime, that is terror.
Without secret police, purges and that sort of things, they can't last. It's the same in vicky/ricky. One can imagine sort of events named "great purges" "another purge" "terror among population" "secret police" "show trial" that will reduce militancy. Maybe VIP could think about it.

In my current game as Russia I put the reactionary party in power, and I managed to keep 85% of my population reactionary until 1890 or so when suddenly the support for liberalism rose from 6-7% to a massive 35%, might be a bit hard to keep a pure monarchy from now on.

The most important thing to remember is when to research Ideological Thought, wait until you have 25% plurality and a conservative party in power. Also, if you pick Aristocracy over Meritocracy in State & Government you get -5% plurality.

How exactly did you keep your subjects at 85% in favour of Reaction?

So apart from that I need to smash Consciousness, using Clergy. However, is there ever a time when the clergy actually increase the consciousnesses of the minor classes? I know they increase it regardless for the upper class.

So on a scale of 1-10, do you think there is any point of keeping A or T govs in power, besides my obviously 'benevolent' personality?

you can often have the best party , the communist parties... in power....or radical ones, without being angered by elections.

I kept taxes at minimum and reform support (although I had no social reforms enacted) maxed to get as much consciousness reduction as possible. When a pop had 0 mil and 0 con it very often changed its political support to reactionary.

The only point of keeping a totalitarian regime late game is for the coolness factor imo, when plurality becomes high enough you will have too much trouble with it. Early game there is nothing like a good monarchy though ;) (provided you are playing a European power)

WOAH! You're not pulling my leg?! If I can get my pops down to 0 mil and 0 con I can actually get them to love my reactionary government and ideas?! This is like the monarchists in Ricky's equivalent to the Fountain of Eternal Youth, just plain awesome!

And come on! Isn't the coolness factor the most important factor! ;)

Sure, but they are quite late and moderate...
I mean that a commie dictatorship shall have its random purges even if its the 1880's. :)
