How do you intend to play out your first game of Victoria 2?

Japan first, get the hang of the new systems and what not. My goals would be to get from unciv to civilized quickly, industrialize, then conquer every unciv in the region and colonize all pacific islands (leaving Hawai'i alone). I will more than likely go to war with those countries that own any SE Asian islands save the United States, as I would like to have some friends. The Russian's I'd leave alone too unless they pushed me to war.

Anyway that'd be my first game.

Well because it is the land of my birth and because I like to get the hang of combat early on I will be playing The Republic of Texas. Then, since I probably won't be able to make a go o Tejas on the first try, I'll try Brazil for a bit to get the hang of everything else.

It was my first game in V1 too. Will try as Sweden or even Norway first. Interesting countries that are able to stay out of much of the troubles further south without being to isolated.

I will play as Prussia, form Germany and conquer the world.
(not because of any real events that happened in history, but because Prussia is in the
middle of Europe, so it has so many possibilities for a great campaign)

Or maybe I'll start with a small country first. Just to learn the things that have changed.

Wicky sounds the best to me (although I've been using V2 mostly). And it definitely is a name, or at least a nickname for an African(-American) name (Wyclef/Wycliffe). It's got 2 V's in it, how is that not perfect for V2?

Anyway, for the boring choice I'd take Netherlands or Two Sicilies (again, like in the first game that clicked for me in Vicky). Maybe some other Italian unification (not Sardinia-Piedmont though), or Bavaria for a German unification (are there any other medium-sized german countries, with 2-3 states at least? - I don't want Prussia/Austria), or if I'm looking for something almost completely different, the USCA! Nationalist revolters there should be fun.

Most probably Bavaria. The main downside is that it's land-locked at the start.
