I'd seen a lot of screenshots of people getting hundreds units of Unity per month. But from what I've seen on the wiki and in-game, I just don't see HOW the do it. Any advice?

Fanatic pacifism
Democracy + egalitarianism = beacon of light, 15% unity
Ruler level

Tbh, just build the monument in every planet and upgrade it when u can... Don't worry to much about unity besides that as there's no point in getting Ascension points if you don't have prereq tech.

Besides the stupid op galactic force projection.
(Seriously, who wouldn't get +200 fleet cap!?!)

Yeah, this. It'll take care of itself with just the monuments. It is somewhat pointless to accumulate too quickly. You cannot change out your ascension perks and most of the really good ones have prereq techs.

As for the +200 fleet cap, I actually think this is severely OP...

There are different ways. For example through ethics. Normal pacifist has +20% unity. Fanatic has +40%

Then there are civics:
  • Agrarian Idyll: 1 unity per farm
  • Beacon of Liberty: +15%
  • Inwards Perfection: +30%

There are a few traditions that boost unity in various ways

try the agrarian adyll... i almost finished all trees while currently at year 2349 (unity-income 850). With all the bonuses you can get +2,5 unity per farm (which should be nerfed hard! around -50% would be fair), you get even higher by actually abusing the mechanics more (rivaling neighbors, fan. pacifist...)

It's only severely op if you're planning for a shorter game, longer games the bigger hitting bonuses have more effect because they scale. First 50-120 years? Yes crazy powerful but beyond that you can reach that amount in other ways. I'm not disagreeing with you, just providing another perspective.

Spiritualist is also a good way to gain unity, since temples also produce unity.
Probably the strongest unity build is spiritualist, pacifist, xenophobe; agrarian Idyll, Inwards Perfection.
It also helps to keep your pops happy, since that is up to +20% unity.
Expansion, Unity and Prosperity Traditions also help generating Unity.

Once you reach the amount of 200 fleet cap without the perk, then take the perk... You get 400 fleet cap...

Yep, still crazy powerful

Its good yes, but not actually that OP. It doesn't make it any easier to maintain that vast fleet. It works best if playing as a tall empire, but I personally find being able to build habitats far more useful. I'm usually quite capable of taking on my rivals with my normal fleet cap.

I'm not sure it needs to be nerfed. The bonuses you get for completing all the traditions earlier aren't actually that powerful, and it means specializing in doing so.

Even non-unity focused empires can do good.

Heritage Site: +6, +10% planet
Auto-curating Vault: +10, +10% empire-wide
Symbol of Unity: +2
Paradise Domes: +2
Energy Grid/Nexus: +2
Artisan Patron: +15% empire-wide
Ministry of Benevolence: +6
Ministry of Culture: +6, +10% empire-wide

So that's 40.6 on your capital and 17.4 on every non-habitat planet. Any empire with access to the Artisan Troupe can achieve this.

Keep in mind that unity costs scale the larger you get and the more you unlock. I've had 5k unity a month but that only looks impressive until you realize that it costs a quarter million for the next tradition.

I haven't trusted dem artisans ever since they scammed me.

when they first came out, I tried patron and the world a festival only for them to pack up and leave.

Then, refuse to communicate later

Needless to say, I blew up their station.
