The whole point of missiles in this game is that they can't be shot down. If they could, you would save a lot of IC by just investing on Strat Bombers.

Uh, have you people been asleep during the past 10 years or so? ;) Defending against ballistic missiles is still very hard even today. Though we wouldn't have a problem shooting down a V2 with present-day technology, defending against modern ICBMs is still largely impossible, especially if they have sophisticated decoy systems installed. Today the big deal is to establish some sort of regional anti-ballistic protection to defend against countries like Iran which have intermediate-range missiles that are still relatively primitive. There the problem is that the anti-ballistic defences are much more expensive than the ballistic missiles themselves, so if the enemy builds a crapload of them, he'll a) drive you bankrupt; b) be able to saturate your defences and still get through.

Defending against ballistic missiles in the WW2 era was impossible, period. Later during the Cold War there were experiments with using nuclear interceptors to destroy the incoming warheads. That's because the interceptors weren't accurate enough, so they had to rely on nuclear warheads of their own to have any chance of destroying the enemy re-entry vehicles in the terminal phase of their ballistic trajectory. It would be fun to have this as a secret tech in the game :D

I read an article saying how the planned defense against V2's and V1's were to fire thousands of anti-air cannons into the air in hopes of hitting V1/V2. It is insanely hard to accurately hit an ICBM in time, especially with the limited computing power of the time (time required to calculate accurate intercept trajectories, not to mention the radar needed and communication systems. At best, you'd have to have some sort of laser/missile burst that would be very wasteful and costly with a small chance to intercept the missile.

V1 can be easily intercepted in game timeframe:

"The development of the proximity fuze and of centimetric, 3 gigahertz frequency gun-laying radars based on the cavity magnetron helped to counter the V-1's high speed and small size. In 1944, Bell Labs started delivery of an anti-aircraft predictor fire-control system based on an analog computer, just in time for the Allied invasion of Europe.

These electronic aids arrived in quantity from June 1944, just as the guns reached their firing positions on the coast. Seventeen percent of all flying bombs entering the coastal 'gun belt' were destroyed by guns in their first week on the coast. This rose to 60% by 23 August and 74% in the last week of the month, when on one day 82% were shot down. The rate improved from one V-1 destroyed for every 2,500 shells fired initially, to one for every 100. This still did not end the threat. V-1 attacks continued until all launch sites were captured by ground forces." As Wiki says.

But ofc not ICBM's.

Yeah, good luck researching that in 1945 if the historical year of that tech is set to 2020 :D

I just realized I need an anti-ICBM/nuke for my Code Geass Mod.....guess I'll add a brigade with 9000 anti-air or something.
Something like the Patriot system eh? Or a more advanced one?
