I wasn't able to complete the Public Transit journal entry despite having the strongest economy in the world (2B GDP) and plenty of motor industries. The problem is that you need to switch 75% of your machine industries to automobiles which drives down the price of cars and makes them unprofitable which means they can't accumulate cash reserves. Another issue is you need to switch your urban centers pms to public motor carriages which again because I have services already super cheap makes it impossible to keep urban centers profitable. I feel like this journal entry punishes you for building the biggest motor industry in the world. Also it's just complicated to do these journal entries when you need to balance needs and production methods across hundreds of motor industries and urban centers.

The industry journal entries are not balanced around 2B GDP, so it's not surprising it's not working so well.

I'm guessing when you say "plenty of motor industries" you mean several hundred or more even.

Fortunately, these entries are mostly fluff with a slight boost to either a future tech, throughput or something like that, so hardly a crucial thing to complete.

Yes, that's what I thought. I had 538 motor industries and switching 404 to producing automobiles (75% required by the entry) absolutely tanked the car prices and made my motor industry wildly unprofitable (would cost me about a million in subsidies). I think the rewards are not worth throwing my whole economy out of whack for them.

You might be able to get away with switching, subsidizing for a short while (until they load up on workers and cash reserve), and then switching back once you've ticked the box on the entry.

Only if you've a high cash reserve and nothing better to do than temporarily set your economy on fire to make a journal entry go away.

Yeah its dumb. You'd think Public Transport would just want you to switch 75% of your City Centers to Public Motor Carriages. They could even still incentivize you to produce more cars if only they made Public Motor Carriages consume Automobiles, which they didn't for some inexplicable reason.
