With no buffs or expert mods, theres no need for medium even for barbarrossa on historical date (june 1941).

40w light tanks is just enough to beat even max buffed SU.(300+divisions on field).

most AIs even USA will have piercing stuff almost at 42 or higher, in 41 theyre still all equiped with 36's stuff, which is beatable with light tanks.

Some equipment need rebalance, theyre super-expensive for AI, so the AI is scripted to stick with old stuff, because AI inst capable of fine tuning the production.

Just to clarify my recent blitz was default template, maybe convert one of the battalions to medium. Vast majority of infantry 20w 10 INF battalions support ENGR and ART. A couple breakthrough infantry of 40w 14-4 INF/ART or 8-8 INF/ART.

Not true.
As Germany your priority is to have a big army of good tanks and enough fighters for Barbarossa. So Tank research is top priority anyway.
You can get Medium Tank 2 in Mid to late 38 and thats early enough to produce enough Medium2s for Poland/France. (You need only 2-3 40 width Divisions)

Advantages:

• You don't need to produce any light Tanks (that are useless for your main goal) at all. (You can cancel the line at game start.)
• Don't need XP to spend on a light Tank template.
• You fight all your wars with the same tanks. They gain experience for Barbarossa from Poland, France, Yugoslavia, Greece...
• Mediums are better than Light Tanks for breaking the line and pushing Divisions
• All the strategies you mention (Pin then rush to cut off) work with Medium Tanks as well.

If you do France with Light Tanks or Medium Tanks is personal preference.

Both can be easier for beginners. It depends.
I think your strategy is good for beginners and it's great you posted it here. But it's not the only one.

I wish the -2 years penalty to research would apply to the mid 2 if you completed the focus after having mid 1s.

I take treaty with the USSR as 3rd focus.
You have to delay 4 year plan a bit anyway to use the bonus on later industry technologies.
