For the life of me I cannot find the answer to this question in the manual, nor can I find it here on this forum.

How do you attach a CAG to an Aircraft Carrier that has no CAG attached to it?

I have 2 unattached CAGs. One is in the ready to be deployed box, the other is at the airbase in Los Angeles.

No matter what I've tried, I cannot get either of them to attach to a carrier sitting in the LA Naval Yards.

Very helpful! But I want to ask you a few questions:
1.I can put maximum 2 cags per Carrier and nothing more?
2.My land units are controlled by the AI, but my naval units (2 giant navies) are controlled by me. They consist - 12 capital ships, 5-6 screens and a few others. So, are the CAGs going to do their job automaticly, despite they are on a ship controlled by me, or I should put them on AI or control them by myself? I can't put the whole navies on AI, because each one consists 23 ships in total, but my captain can operate 6, so the AI will dissolve the navy into 2 or 3 ones. On the other hand, I need the navies with so many ships in order to be able to destroy the American ships in the Atlantic and Pacific.
3. What kind of missions do CAGs work on? For example: are the CAGs going to attack, when my mission is Sortie or Patrol, or when my ships have incidentaly been attacked by an enemy navy?
My questions may sound strange, but I haven't played with CAGs before. THX in advance!

CVLs (escort carriers) can fit one CAG, CVs (full fleet carriers) can fit two.

CAGs will automatically default to "CAG Duty", which allows them to act as "guns" for the carrier, plus protect the fleet from incoming air attacks. Very powerful, and clearly the best option to use unless you're launching air attacks into another province.

You definitely want more screens for your capital ships. Anything under a 1:1 ratio incurs a penalty. I generally field a fleet of 2xBB or BC, 2xCA, and around 6xCL or DD. CVs should never be mixed with other capital ships, because the screens will drop back to protect the carriers, leaving your other capital ships unscreened. CVLs are a notch down the hierarchy, so you can mix them with BBs or BCs, but I think you may run into the same issue if you add CVLs to a CA+screens fleet. Keep the fleet carriers in their own fleet, with their own escorts.

BTW - a slight overstack isn't a serious problem, but you probably want to promote your naval leader if you're planning to use more than 10-12 ships in a fleet action. They gain experience more slowly at higher rank (halved for each level), but there's no other drawback to promoting them.

Thank you very much! Britain has already fell, but there are a lot of American ships to be destroyed. Now Bulgaria can conquer the world!

But I forgot to ask something else: now all those CAGs make a huge list in my army units panel on the right. Also, how can I be sure the planes are going to be supplied. Maybe I should mak some kind of a HQ on the land. If yes, then should I make it AI controlled?

They should just draw supplies from the fleet, so as long as the port where the fleet operates from is being properly supplied, your fleet and its CAGs will be fine.

Oh, another tip: If going up against a strong naval opponent (Japan/USA mainly) it can be wise to overbuild on the CAGs so you have a bunch of spare air units sitting around on airbases that can be used to replace badly mauled CAG on the fleet. Otherwise you might find your CV fleet spending loads of time in dock repairing its aircraft, especially early in the war.

Wonderful! Many THX. It will be useful for the next gameplay, because I already conquered the world..
