I have never played EUII but I have played HOI. So I was wondering if the units on the map will move like in HOI1 and 2 or will they move like in Knights of Honor?
Movement in HOI1 and HOI2 is not quite the same though. In HOI1 the unit moves to a province and then starts to fight it out with any enemy units that are there (EUII has the same system) in HOI@ the unit starts to fight as soon as it starts to move into a province.
My guess is that EUIII will use the same system as for EUII and HOI1, it seems more appropriate to the period.
Its highly unlikely but it would be very cool and a fantastic improvement if the armies utilized the 3d engine by taking up a set amount of space on the map instead of an entire province. This would make more sense since armies would have to actually engage one another within provinces instead of just being assumed to somehow occupy the entire thing. Think of some of the larger EUII provinces. Two armies could easily pass each other by within such large spaces. Especially if one army is all cavalry or has an exceptional commander. However, theres almost no likelihood of this taking place. Oh well.
Rome: Total War style movement and having to reach the enemy army in order to initiate combat would be nice indeed, bringing just enough tactics in the game while not making the player meddle with the actual battle, but meh.
