Ok thought I had this figured out but then this happened:

Am empire of Hispania got the following non dejure vassals

Sultanate of Burgandy, Aquitan and France.

Medium laws so expect no vassals fighting each other but somehow my three vassal sultanates get into a royal rumble. and turn into two sultanates. So how does it actually work? does medium authority affect only dejure vassals and so my three sultanates are unaffected by laws or how does it work?
