Is there a way to combine forces under a single leader? I can't seem to figure it out.

Draw (drag) a box around the units (in the same hex) and you will see a button which says Merge Units at the bottom of the panel.

Ah, much thanks! I was trying the "G" key like on the back of the manual and was getting no results.
