how do i research 1940 fighter?

title says it all. playin as germany ive researched the required techs on the aircraft tech screen but ive hit a wall at the 1940 fighter tech.

must say the new tech tree is fab. ive not played CORE since HOI 1 was out but this version is lookin very good so far.

You need to have researched 39 Electronics as well.

I agree the tech tree is great - though I'm still learning how to tie all the links together

I grant you it takes a couple of games to fully appreciate the finesse of the different techs (what unlocks what). but as a rule of thumb the more modern aircraft need both advances in electronics and radar technology. Note that the secret weapon tree has some of the electronics techs, as there was little room left to put them elsewhere.

ok another question. ive researched 1940 heavy tank prototype, how do i research 1942 heavy tank (tiger)? i notice the 1941 infantry tank above it has a red mark through it.

what does that mean?

The red line means that tech is inactive. Possible reasons include :
A) That tech is not available at all to your country or
B) It needs to be activated by an event or
C) It needs another tech researched first to activate it or
D) It has been deactivated by researching another tech.

Researching any of the Assault Gun techs deactivates the Infantry Tank techs (and vice versa, except the 38 model)

42 Heavy Tank also requires 42 Anti-tank Gun researched.

When you select a tech, any 'required' techs on the page are marked with a small, yellow R

sorry my mistake, i missed the anti tank requirement. think ive found a bug.
i can research the 1941 interceptor tech without havin the 1939 one.
