Put it into friendly port and it will repair slowly.
If you want to put it into drydock, put it into port and click the fist. It will be unavailable to you while it's being repaired, but you can check for its ETA in the reserves.

Note that people have seen their ships disappear of the face of the earth if they've done this. After seeing it myself 100% of the time I clicked "repair", I just let my ships fix themselves in port.
According to the Panvision pamphlet there are two different classes of "ship factories", one for steamers and one for clippers. It would be cool if you would only be able to repair your ships in provinces which have one of the above. But I doubt that's the case...

Problem is that you can't control which province of your state that the factories get built in (they seem to end up in the same province), potentially letting you build such a factory in a land-locked province while still being in a coastal state.
