Simply query really, playing Orsini family in Ironman and wondered what must I do to achieve this nickname.

I've noticed in AI so many rulers are "The Frog" for being uncouth or "the Cleansing Flame" whilst executing heretics or "The Missionary" for proselytising pagans - so this seems rare!

I've got a save where I've formed the kingdom of venaissin with the Orsini's - but wanted to get it on Ironman.

Thanks!

More or less beginning with the coronation by the pope i think.
Code:
#Scary giant letter event determining what is the priest going to ask to the King/Emperor in exchange for the Coronation.

letter_event = {

    id = HF.20201

I can't give any clear example how to achieve it in game.
Somebody else maybe ?

Haha, awesome.. My guess is that if I manage to secure a Black Bishop achievement and later support his candidacy to become Pope, I can achieve it by carousing event?

I appreciate jonjowett's query though, as I'm unsure whether the coronation event is that of the Pope himself, or a ruler crowned who then (if female) allows him to "pollinate" her.

Again, slightly off topic but CK2 fans are awash with glitterhoof lore - but I wondered what can be done to install a Pope Joan (female pope) onto the throne of Saint Peter?

The vatican name is only possible with the coronation event chain, if that's what you are asking.

Not sure what you are asking here.
You/ruler have to make a few decisions on the event chain to get there.

Should not be possible. Don't think so.

Slightly off-topic - does anyone know what historical event this is referencing?

No idea. Usually i'd say something late in 15th/16th century, but i know that there were stories about 'wild life'
in papal Rome earlier in different eras, depending who got on the throne and with whose powerful backing.

Should not be possible. Don't think so.

AFAIK, it's impossible because of two changes in later patches:
  • Children of the Pope don't get weak claims on the Papacy
  • Temple holders who convert get kicked out
If either of those weren't present then there would be a way to make female Popes in ironman. (Albeit difficult and improbable.)

Thanks for that jonjowett.

I've seen screenshots of it, and just wondered if it were still possible - although I appreciate theocracies aren't playable I've seen this done too.. I'm guessing the Papacy somehow becomes a dejure Empire?

Anyway, the nickname "The Vatican Prince" really appealed to me - given the Orsini family were precisely that. Is it still possible to reach that event detailed by Aardvark Balley whilst playing on Ironman?

I've wanted to make a bloodline with Giacopo from the 1066 start for a while. Last playthrough had him living to 87(!) by far the oldest character I've ever seen on a single game.

There are a ton if nicknames that were added in the final 2 DLCs + Great Wonders patch that have extremely ridiculous requirements to ever trigger or take so long to obtain that the generic nicknames trigger first.

Well, according to the code this one is only availible till the age of 20. He was just living a long healty life.
Agreed.

Although I think the nickname system would be a lot better if there was a way to change to a different nickname on the same "tier" - eg. after 20 years, give you the option to switch to another nickname of the same tier.

Nicknames don't change in real life. You get them young, not when you are old.

Not necessarily, if you reign for long enough. Which is my point. (Examples from France: Charles VI the Beloved -> the Mad; Louis XIV the Great -> the Sun king. I'm sure other western monarchies will have similar examples.)

In many cases, we only remember a King's final nickname - any previous ones are relatively inaccessible to amateur internet users. This is especially true of nicknames that are bestowed posthumously.

  • Crusader Kings II: Charlemagne
The vatican name is only possible with the coronation event chain you/ruler have to make a few decisions on the event chain to get there.
My query related to what event triggers the orgy, I am reviving this necro as I'm asking if it's still possible to activate this chain in the current version of the game which I play?

The Orsini's eminently deserve the nick!

My query related to what event triggers the orgy

I thought i already elaborated about this in my first two posts and began with the final event that gives the nickname.
I don't know if you can trigger that on its own via console. You could try it.

Thanks, I appreciate you getting back to me on this matter. Just wanted to establish whether you needed a female character to become queen but have seen photos where it would seem Pope has to be corrupted by Lucifer's Own first:

@Aardvark Bellay, hehe my apologies if I resurrected what should have been an answered query. The nickname does indeed pop up if you're prepared to use console, which for my upcoming AAR I shall be use for roleplaying purposes.

Good to know. Nice. :)
