How do I maximize ace generation chance for CAS?

Single plane air wing trick works extremely well for fighters, but for some reason the same method breaks CAS and they won't join battles if divided into ones. In fact, if you divide it at all it gets wonky and there will be a few planes that are, according to the effective number in the air zone, supposed to join but don't. But then I've also realized that I don't know the conditions of CAS ace generation, does anyone know what it is? It says in the wiki you get a role for ace promotion when killing a ship or a plane, but nothing related to ground combat is mentioned.

I found this bit in the defines.

LAND_COMBAT_CAS_WINGS_PER_ENEMY_ARMY_LIMIT = 4, -- Limit of CAS wings requested by enemy armies​
LAND_COMBAT_CAS_PER_ENEMY_ARMY = 20, -- Amount of CAS planes requested per enemy army​
LAND_COMBAT_CAS_PER_COMBAT = 150, -- Amount of CAS requested per combat​

Maybe this has something to do with less planes participating in battles when divided into smaller air wings?

30 light Fighters in 1 Grouß are the best Method to generate Aces.
40 Bombers / Stukas in 1 Group is the best Method to generate Aces there.
20 heavy Fighters in 1 Group

The higher the Planes in a Group the lesser the Aces-Generation, esp. for Bombers and light fighters. Same thing if you get lesser then 30 light Fighters and 40 Bombers.

And the some of the Air-Doctrine Research generate Bonuses for Aces in the Airforce.

That´s all you can do. The other Part belongs on your Fuel, Training and Mission-Time (normaly you get 2 or 3 Aces in the Spain-War and in the second China-Japan-War (if you are Communist or Fashist Nation).

All democratic Nations won´t get Aces before Sept. 1939.

Thanks for the reply but there's noticeable difference in ace generation rate between 1 and anything in the 10s. Single fighter wings give you much more aces as long as you're killing the enemy.

As for how CAS works, I swear last time I checked dividing it into 1s prevented it from joining battles, but now that I test it again I'm getting more planes in combat than total numbers * mission efficiency. It's obviously not a good idea to do this when there's AA, but regardless of how useful this is it's contradicting my previous understanding of air support frontage.

Yep, I tested that since 1.00 and got this as the best Structrue for the Moment. We will see what 1.10 "Collie" and 1.11 "Barbarossa" bring to us in that Part. From what I heard, read and informed from the DevD´s etc. the Devs wanna fully rework the Airforce-Fighting and Ground-Fighting as well as the Tech-Tree, because everything atm is on the old Standard (32 Bit-Programming) from Version 1.00 with upgrades / fixes here and there.

And I think they made a light rework for the Airforce in DoD and the DLC what was comming next. But the Devs aren´t happy too with the existing Airfight and Groundfight System as well as Research.

I dont usually generate aces on CAS but rather on TACs (1 plane per wing). I find that the extra range and defence on TAC can help with the efficiency and survivability of them and have more chances of generating aces.

Question, once you have an ace, do you then combine wings to the point that specific ace now benefits 100 planes (or some other number) or are you leaving them in small units. I cannot imagine leaving an ace in a wing with one plane, since that will surely kill him the fastest.

I try to put 10 per ace. This maximises the ace bonus on the planes, only scaling up if I need more planes but less aces. Obviously you will need a lot of aces for that to work (and a lot of micromanagement), but if you farm them correctly you can get plenty

I always make sure that aces are in wings with greater numbers ( min 200 ).

A recent game I played I started with a few naval bombers. I quickly discovered they were generating aces so fast I started rotating the aces out to my other bombers. It could have been coincidence, but it then again, maybe naval missions generate more aces than ground missions per time period.

This covers exactly my experience. And the advantage is, that nav-aces are equal to cas- or tac-aces.
