I played as Gelre ( made an event to become Holland later on- so I'm actually Holland now) And when I visited brazil/ caribbean, China had various trade-posts and colonies there.
(BTW this is not a one- time thing, when I played Portugal, with my first explorer i found "hundreds" of chinese ships floating of the coast of brazil)

There have been numerous threads on the problem of China colonizing the Americas so I'll give a brief summary:

1. Problem should be fixed in 1.05 patch.
2. DoW China...they can't get to Holland and you don't get as much bb since they're different religion. Burn their TP's or, better yet, simply capture them to raise your victory score so you can demand captured colonies. Also, AI doesn't deal well w/ attrition or naval transport of troops so colonial wars are usually very favorable to the human player.

Hope it helps...:)

Well if you do not want to wait for 1.05 you can edit the AI file for China.

I know what you mean. I really don't like seeing China in North or South America. But playing as China I didn't like seeing Portugal in Southeast Asia. So I Dow'ed them and for the next ten years, a technologically inferior Chinese fleet and navy wiped Portugese possesions off of mainland China(Macau) and out of SouthEast Asia. Took me forever, and I had a civil war during that long long war and I only finally got some possesions after rebels hit Lisbon. :)

There's a big difference between Portuguese in South East Asia and Chinese in America - the former is historical :)

You have to be lucky to keep China out of South America. Sometimes Zheng? will stop his explorations before he rounds Cape Horn, and get China enveloped in wars with the native powers. Check the Aztec and Incan relationship with China, if it exists, at the point of contact. If it is low enough, you can bet that China got held up fighting in that region, and thus should have few or no colonies on the western side of the cape.

Lots of things that happen in the game are not historical either. However, the Chinese in S.A. is I think fairly possible if they had not chosen inward perfection.

Quite possible in the game, but if they meant it happened historically, they were mistaken! :D

I personally find China in the Americas quite fun. It's has a definite twist to the game that really keeps you on your toes.

How do I keep China out of the HRE?

True story.

Playing as Denmark, I had amassed a sizable colonial empire that included NA, SA and Africa. Around the 1650s I believe, England allied with China. Soon China had a small standing army(20 or so) in Anglia itself. China got embroiled in England's foolhardy ventures into the HRE. China, for a time, legally owned Hessen. There, Denmark, liberator of Holstein, Pommerania, Mecklemburg and Dresden stood aghast as the other German states took no care at all at these strange outlanders with their bizarre language and indecipherable writing comes and takes land in Europe, Needless to say, Denmark relieved China from this province, when England woke out of it's strange dream.

As he said, he created an event that changes Gelre to Holland, the same kind of event that transform Castille to Spain. The EEP have such events included (check the EEP forum).
