I'm a Brazilian, so I'm obviously trying to play Brazil. But it is basically unplayable now due to the Pax Americana US national focus, which renders impossible to attack the other South American nations. It is too frustrating to play for a bunch of hours and then suddenly you can't attack anymore because USA is too overwhelming and you didn't have close to a chance to build up to match them.

Is there any way or just crossing fingers? I'm almost uninstalling the game, out of pure anger about this.

I don't own Hoi4

But someone already complained about this and the response was:

Most games USA won't take that national focus.

So there is your solution. (not really)

Alternative is to go to the files for the game, find national focus folder, and edit it in notepad. I'm sure it will be easy to modify it in such a way that it does not work properly. (ask on user modifications forum, if you register your game how to do it if you cannot figure it out)

Only played one game, but in that game the US went that path too, then proceeded to invade Chile. Didn't see how it played out for them (got bored of fighting in Siberia), so I can't affirm if this is rare or not. Maybe it's common for the fascist version of the US ? That's who I saw follow that national focus branch.

If you play without historical AI US usually goes down Pax Americana early. If you use Historical it might not be until 1942 or so, depending on world tension.

The solution is simple, carve anything up before they take this focus.

I believe with historical focusses on they will take it in late 1941 or early 1942, at least that was when my Mexican Empire was on the door of Argentina and the US joined the fight after they didn't care about Guatemala El Salvador Nicaragua Costa Rica Panama Colombia Ecuador Peru Bolivia Paraguay and Chile (forgive me if I forgot one^^). Half a year later the US now has a nice greenish color instead of this shaby blue, because apparently the US can't deal with 1,4 million mexicans storming through.

So with historic focusses on you should have enough time to get all of South America, when turned off no one knows when the US will pick Pax Americana.

Grab political effort, choose fascist or communist demagogue. But get the national focus for the desired ideology too. This will give you 0.2 a day base political drift.

You should have flipped by 1937, get fabricating and declaring war immediately. Before the US can intervene.

To get pax americana US need to research 5 National focus.

70 x 5 = 350 days. Worst case scenario.

But AI rarely goes all the way. So worst case you can declare some wars.

And thats when he does nothing else. Worst case scenario he needs 1 year.
From most of my games he usually waits until late 39-40 to get that. Its more than enough to start a war with everyone.

If you're fast you can start your wars beetween october 37-december 37. Worst case scenario May 38.

But the real prize is not going for caribbe. Is going for Portugual, Sweden and Netherlands before German starts the WWII. (So you can get Tungsten, Rubber and Steel).
With luck also go for greece (Aluminum) and Turkey (Chromium).

Yep, create 4 armys and go crazy on world conquest :p.

I my game as fascist Argentina, by the time the US did Pax Americana I already owned all of South and most of Central America.
You have enough time to wage war before it happens. Then just build up until the US enters WW2 and fight them as well!

In my first time playing the game I had historical focus and took most of South America before they had the focus, and at the time I thought it was a scripted event (because I didn't even know they had a different focus tree, lol)

But then I restarted and toggled off historical, and restarted FIVE more times because they went all the way to Pax Americana every single of those five attempts. :(

It is even a kinda stupid choice, because they don't gain all that much from the focus, lol (except stopping the player from going on a rampage...)

I must admit, I am running into this problem as well. (If its not too much trouble to dredge up an old thread when I'm sure theres newer ones floating around.)

I usually play with Historical focus off and EVERY time I've started in S.America they have gone Pax Americana and most times when I start in anything other than S.America they do NOT rush Pax Americana. This is annoying as fuck as it seems theres a bias against the player because they start the Pax Americana tree before I've even started to mobilize in S.America.

Well, I can't remember on a non-historical game that ended without the PAX-focus tree, before 1940. I think, a good solution is, to let them choose. Every state should decide if they want to have this kind of protection. So there is maybe a chance of 50 % that a state don't want the protection. (because it's loyal to Axis or Comintern) So neutral or democratic governments should be more prone to get into PAX America.

Like others said, you have time in the beginning to take some countries.

Brazil has great potential but you have to wait a while cause it's underdeveloped. They have great manpower, real estate, and in a good defensive position. The only major problems you'll run into is steel production. But all of this really comes into fruition after the war, as you need more time. So, you have to play a more passive role in WW2, which is the way it really was intended.
