ke? just dont install the 1.1 "patch" and you have your lovely exp system back. You have what you paid for -- the "enchancement" is a bonus...
You must be hell to all the customer relations people you deal with.

This should be noted for all the "complainers" in this forum. You want XP back, run DD 1.0 without the 1.1 patch. Simple.

BTW I think, personally, Johan was trying to get round the experinece exploits in HOI2. How meany people read about the "Gamey" tactic of TacBombing a poor peasant to get Level 7+ air commanders. I did it, until I got tired of it. Obviously it's a WAD that most people are unhappy with.

I work between 50-60 hours a week, I spend 2 hours driving to and from work everyday. When I get a weekend like Easter off I want to relax and enjoy a game or two. This problem has persisted and angered players like myself for close to two weeks now and I am quite frankly fed up with the lack of response till last Friday. I don't intend on waiting another 2 weeks, getting angry about a fix that can esentially be fixed by going back to the old system until a new and workable system is ready. I am not a programer and I can't fix it myself.

My patience has run out. I would like a response on how to get my money back.

You wanna dump your game for THAT???
C'mon, tell us that you find DD similar to HOI2 and you're trying the strike.

I don't think you deserve the right to be refunded... it's not like you can't play the game at all.
Be serious, just wait for the patch.

.) Yes
.) The game is similar to HoI2 and I am not striking.
.) You are most certainly welcome to a differing opinion.
.) Since, without the patch there are errors and with the patch the game becomes something I did not purchase, I essentially can't play the game.
.) How long do I wait? A day, a week, a month, how long do I wait? I haven't seen anything that says that this will be fixed soon. All I saw was 'get used to it,' we'll change it when we change it.

Understand me please, I am not trying to be difficult, I am no longer angry, I am now just tired and disappointed. And I get the feeling that our pleas are falling on deaf ears or indifferent ones. I am sure that my returning the game won't make much of a difference, so why bother with telling me to 'wait.'

Patch 1.1 fixed other problems that were not related to XP at all.

AFAIK the notes for patch 1.1 did not mention any changes to the XP system and for many of us it was an unwanted and undocumented feature.

We have not been given very good choices - either put up with something we don't want, don't play DD or have to suffer an unstable version 1.0 with a number of known faults or issues.

I think I have every right to complain about that situation.

Which EU laws?

You have no duty to give your customers a refund just because they don't like the product, only if it's broken or was not sold as advertised. This is not true for Doomsday.

Realy? Can you please show a single official Paradox statement where they promise that whenever an attack is made in doomsday all leaders get experience?

Unless you post one in reply to my message, you have no idea what you are talking about.

Mr. G said:

Even if the error is little, they might have to refund if they advertized that the game does not have it. However, I do not recall any official statements regarding leader exp gain...

To the original poster: you are way overreacting, but well... do as Fredrik II told you :D

And if you don't, to your future possible doomsday-related posts I will reply "But you do not even have the game. You got rid of it!"

I don't agree with SoW's conclusion that criticism has fallen upon deaf ears, but I fail to see how he epitomizes "ugly americanism". He was disatisfied, requested a refund giving reasons why he was disatisfied, and awaited a response. He received what he was looking for, at the discretion of those whom he had bought his unsatisfactory product.

If I received a link to a product to rehabilitate "ugly americans" after behaving as he has done, I would be offended.

There is an obscure law about you always have one year to get a full refund if there's insatisfaction with what the item does IIRC.
Although it could be a Belgium only law.

The official response from Paradox is 'wow' :)
Not many companies would do that, that really deserves respect IMO.
Kudos to paradox.

About the problem itself, I'm sure it'll be fixed in a next patch, and for the time being I'm sticking to 1.0 myself :)

according to BGB §355-358 (right of rescission), a costumer is allowed to stand back from a purchase contract within two weeks (four weeks, if the customer is instructed after contract conclusion, six months if the instruction did not take place) without giving an explanatory statement.
AFAIK this newly revised (jan. and aug. 2002) law has been changed to fit european guidelines. but or course, I'm no lawyer...

uh welcome aboard.

No need for that link here if you ask me.

We have a very simply customer policy at Paradox. If you don't like our games or you have encountered problems you feel is unbearable, we will do our best to help you. If refunding the game is a solution, we will of course offer it.

Hopefully the problems mentioned in this thread will be sorted out within soon.

No matter what, we will not refund HoI 1 at this stage as suggested earlier in the thread ;) :D

2 genius at work... for your information DD 1.0 has at least 4 confirmed CTD bugs

How people miss a 570+ post topic or even miss the sticky topic about the "changes" in 1.1 is something I fail to understand... :(

I know this is your "personal" opinion, but even then... I doubt Johan was personally evolved any changes introduced in 1.1 DD... on EUIII coding, now that’s another matter ;)

About the "Gamey" part of your post...
I think I'm free to be "gamey" with my game as much as I want; not only I don't think the "AI" will be bothered much, but also the land CO being bombed will gain as much xp as my bomber CO (or the other way around if you like) ;)

As you stated above, they are forced to refund if the product doesn't work as advertised.

Btw, the demo is an advertisement (Download vers.)...

The demo, DD 1.0, as stated above, has at least 4 CTD bugs admitted by Paradox, so DD "out of the box" doesn't work... if we wanted to be picky, like any good lawyer, we could ;)

Both DD 1.0 and the manual of the game have the "old" xp system...
1.1 introduced an undocumented feature ...
Should I continue ? ;)
No need, again, a lawyer in any market economy would have no trouble handling this...

So, Fredrik (Paradox Marketing), has not only played a good PR "card" (post), but also opted by the most decent and probably less costly option for all ;)

& me... well, as stated on another topic; my game is uninstalled since 2 days after 1.1 release, but...
I'm more patient then SonofWinter and with 5+ years of satisfied Paradox customer I know (and hope) they will ratify this as always and asap. ;)

I apologize if that link was inapropriate or offensive. I had read that article right before reading this post, which to me is meant to intentionally show extreme frustration at something very minor that the poster had already mentioned in another thread (the huge exp thread). It made me laugh to think, here we go again being the demanding petty ugly Americans. The HOI2 forums are very international and for a poster to display a U.S. flag and act in such a way bothers me as a U.S. citizen. But in retrospect my post was probably in poor of taste and I should PM'ed it to him in private instead of publicly posting it here. My apologies Son of Winter for that.

And Son of Winter I really am impressed by your response to my post with that link. Very thoughtful.

I think the relevant §§ are 434, 437 and 438. And Doomsday certainly doesn't qualify for those.
