How do I change the names of provinces?

It's an injustice that stinky Port Augusta makes up that part of South Australia, Whyalla has THRICE the population. THRICE, I tell thee. An outrage.

I think it can be done in the \config\province_names.csv - search for the "wrong" name and replace it with whatever you feel like. It won't show on the map though, only when you click the province, when you give orders and so on.
I haven't tried myself but I think it should work as everything else use province number and not name. You better backup province_names.csv before you edit it though.

I was born here in Port Augusta and am glad to say that we are the hub of South Australia outside Adelaide.

Afterall we are known as the "Crossroads" of Australia because our town gives access to the North, East, West & South parts of the country.

We are a booming Town now with the biggest growth In South Australia and one of the top ten towns in Australia with a resurgent booming economy whereas you mob in Whyalla are best known for a boat out of water as a tourist attraction grow up mate Port Augusta should be the name of the province because everyone has to pass through us to get up north, East, South or West where they do not pass through your town whatsoever.

So pull your head in about calling us names mate but i suppose that was supposed to be expected after all you are a town full of whinging poms.

I know the feeling. My city, Boden, is and were a military city, our fortress is widely known but my city was replaced in the game by Luleå because it's bigger Even though my city was more important during ww2, because Boden was the top military city/base of Sweden with modern equipment and during the war, when the germans were passing through to finland, our cannons were pointing straight toward the german trains. If the germans would have tried something, they would have likely to gotten a very good beating. I've been up to one of the forts here and they are very well hidden, you can't see them without climbing the mountains around here and even then it's hard.

Original question was how to rename provinces. It got answered. Secondary question was why is that province named after the particular city. Well, I think it got answered too, but last sentence of kymsheba's response wasn't really right. Then it stated to flame.

A few years ago I asked a friend from down under what they call nationalists down there. In Denmark they are just nationalists, in the US they seem to be called patriots. What he said was "Down here mate, we call em idiots".

As for Denmark your royal family cant even find anyone in your own country for a bride they have to come to our country to get a bride....talk about mail order bride's lol.

Here, three days before the wedding one of the largest television stations chose to bring an interview with a lady that worked in the store across the street from the church they were gonna get maried in. I think he's talking about wholesale changing the name even within the province on the map. Which as far as I know the common HOI2 player couldn't do, only someone with major programming experience could do that. I'm also going to abandon ship here to avoid the senseless spam and personal attacks, this is not the place to discuss what's being discussed, and it's taken the thread very much off topic.
