How do I ask vassals to prepare for war ?

Hi ! I know there's a way to ask an ally to get ready for war (for a year) if you use 10 favors, but isn't it possible to do the same for vassals and personnal unions ?

With the new drill strategy, my vassals always start wars with the lowest moral possible, which is often synonym of stack wipe if they are a little too close to my ennemies.

I would love to be wrong, but I believe there is no such command. :(

If a mod/dev reads this, I suggest a new vassal/march interaction to "Prepare for War" in which you pay a substantial lump sum to have a vassal set army maintenance to max and fill out their force limits. If you don't declare war after a year or so, they'd go back to saving money.

This is what the wiki says about Prepare for War:

Prepare for war - Ten favors can be spent to tell a country to prepare for war. For one year they will raise maintenance on their armies and avoid declaring offensive wars. In addition they gain +20 reasons to accept when being called into a war.

I don't see anywhere in the patch notes that Prepare for War interacts with Drill in any way.

There is no specific mechanics to ask vassals and junior PUs for that, HOWEVER, 90% of the reasons you'd ever ask an ally to 'prepare for war' are to make sure they; don't start one of their own and 2. get extra reasons to agree to join your war. Neither apply to vassals, marches and such, so it would be pretty useless to have the same option for vassals. (Who wont start their own wars and WILL auto join yours anyway)

The only difference is that your vassal might be low on maintenance/drilling and slow to get warmed up to your action for a few months. Its not ideal but sure, I guess a subject interaction that says: "Stop the shit you're doing to save money or drill and get to the borders top morale stat" could be situationally useful.

Bouchat : Prepare for War only works for allies, not for vassals / marches / junior PU. That's the stuff :/

Alerias : That's exactly my problem, they're drilling. I saw my vassal's army get stackwiped the first month because he was drilling his army when I declare war. It'd be nice to be able to tell my vassals to get ready for war, even if I'd have to pay a price (gold or prestige, whatever).

put small merc stack with your vassal army, so they don't get wiped

While that works, its fair to say its not optimal gameplay wise. Ideally its fun to be able to have some marches/client states etc even in the long run, we're not all playing for one tag WC every single game, right?

So while this has little to do with the normal 'prepare for war' mechanic, a global option, perhaps a checkbox in the subject tab, that orders all vassals to be/stay on war footing would be a useful mechanic. Its almost self-balanced, the longer you keep that checked, the poorer and less drilled your vassal armies would be.

I suggest blobbing with administrative, then rolling a die on where to send half your armies (to Russia if you're fighting in Egypt, to random colonies, suicide into enemy stacks outnumbered etc). Then you can get the full experience of playing with vassals.

But yes, it would be nice if vassals weren't just straight up intentional trolls by mothballing all their forts to get capped on month 1 of the war and the like.

vassals work as distraction and carpet siegers, otherwise you could set support, leave 1k merc for them to attach to and use it as an army
