yeah sound a bit weird lol but i can give back a vassal a barony for example thats in their own duchy , but i cant ask the same for my vassal where they have taken some from my own duchy through succession etc ? (they dont hold it but the person who does see them as liege)

how does it the game dont let us work both ways ?

Do note that the duchy you give out must belong to a kingdom under you de jure.

i dont quite follow with the above two ways , can you give a example ?

Heres one of my example , im king of ireland , and one of my duchy is owned by X (and he already has full control when i gave the title to him) , but Barony Y who is own by Z is in my owned Duchy but Z sees X as liege after some events

now how do i solve this ? i cant use the transfer liege function to ask it back (how stupid is it they didnt made that work both ways) ?

If u have a spare duke title, just throw it at Z. Since his highest title is now the same rank of X, X cannot lord over him anymore. Instead, he should report to u directly if u r a king or higher.

Do note that the duchy you give out must belong to a kingdom under you de jure.

I dun quite see the significance here...... Shouldn't the new duke still ur vassal even the duke title is not of ur de jure, as long as u hold a higher title? U give him that title in the first place

Well, as an emperor, if you're not the de jure liege, your king-vassal who IS the de jure liege of the duchy will get the -25 opinion from (Wants control of Duchy).

I think that's the only way tho... I dun think u can revoke a title that is not directly held by someone, and I dun think ai would transfer ur de jure vassal back to u. I've seen ai transfer vassalage among themselves, but never seen them transfer vassalage to me

If you have a claim you should be able to revoke it freely. Thats all i can think of now. Still not perfect.

Promoting the Baron/Inheriting the Barony is the only way to go, as you can't press the county claim against your vassal.
Revoking the other duchy will not grant you the wanted effect as the barony in question will stay part of the County of X, you would need to reduce X to Baron level as well (adding another -40 for his revoked counties) to disable him from being Baron Z's liege anymore.
In effect you probably go cheaper if you just promote Z to a duke and make sure he's not going to produce any offspring so you can inherit directly back what you handed out to him.

As fare as I remember you only need to give the baron a title higher than his highest current title inorder to make him answer directly to you. So it should be sufficient to make him a count.
