Via conquest in sub-Saharan Africa, I obtained a lot of new courtiers. It turned out that one of them was in the process of becoming a child of destiny.

He is now an adult (converted to my religion and matrilineally betrothed to a woman of my dynasty), and I'd like to "activate" him. (IE - get him his bloodline and event troops.) I'm planning to abandon the Indian region anyway in the next couple of decades (and move to Mali), so I thought it'd be amusing to let him loose in Persia. However, this is an ironman game, so I'd rather not take any chances - hence this request for advice.

My current best plan is to conquer the duchy of Fars (in Persia, fairly distant from my Indian empire), grant it to him, and then immediately grant him independence. However, thanks to my earlier experience as a child of destiny*, I suspect that this may not give him any event troops. If that's true, he'll probably be squashed. Not ideal.

Alternatively, if I just let him sit in my court, will he eventually decide to go off and conquer some random duchy/kingdom? Or will he just sit there doing nothing?

*When I previously played as a child of destiny, I obtained the bloodline as soon as I inherited (ie. went from unlanded adult courtier to independent landed ruler) and I got the unlimited lifetime invasions. However, I did not get any event troops. I have two theories for the lack of event troops: (1) players don't get event troops; (2) I was already landed when I "activated". The first theory is not a problem - he will be an AI - but if the second theory is true then it's not ideal. Or maybe it's something else entirely.

It turns out that, if you just leave him alone for a bit, he'll launch an adventure by himself.

In this particular case, he decided to attack Italy. He made the odd decision to walk from Goa in India to Italy via the Urals... but he got there in the end and won himself a kingdom.
