For example: i have 50 divisions under one commander and want to draw a battleplan. Can i draw the plan detailed in that way, that the 50 divs split up to follow different offensive lines(example: 10 divs follow a drawn line in the north, 25 divs head for an offensive line in the west and 15 divs follow a line in the south)? I know, there is a future dd on this. But maybe someone knows something;)

There was an earlier picture from Johan setting up a plan for the French invasion of Germany which showed him splitting an army into two prongs. I'm not aware of any specifics beyond that being given.

So ... we think it's possible.

If you have 50 divisions under one commander you can if you want create 50 Front lines.


You should also be able to assign Divisions to a specific route marked out by an arrow but that ability seems to have gone missing in action for some reason and you will as I understand it need to use a series of Front lines.

It should be the main selling point for the new battle plan system. Create a plan, let the AI execute it and only check and ajust from time to time.
We know we can add Para drops at specific provinces, Invasions ,as D-Day, will use the same system and a division should be possible to be part of more then one battleplan. (Question is, if you activate both, how this division will react.)

Seeing all those attrition skulls just makes me hear Arumba's voice, complaining on how the AI can't lead a siege properly and how much manpower and ducats they must be wasting :D

They are training and suffering equipment attrition because of that.

You can simply select and assign divisions to each arrow.

From left to right, as I understand it:
Green = % Organisation
Orange = % of equipment (+ soldiers??)
Helmet = picture of the template used by the division
Clover = Experience level (Green, Veteran, etc. should be 4 'levels') Edit : From DD 13: Green Soldiers, Trained, Regular, Seasoned and finally Veterans
Yellow = experience for this level
Blue = planning bonus
Rest is Name (obviously) and remove from this Command group.

A series of successive phase lines along with arrows or eqiuvalents to indicate routies is how it is done on a map so it will be a nice boost to verisimilitude if that works in the game that way as well. If they take out the broad-brush group arrows, my guess it is because the way players may be casually drawing arrows may be often sub-optimal paths and cause delays or traffic jams, so it might best be left to the CPU to route troops (absent specific movement orders that as a player I certainly want to be able to give for tactical reasons down to the dividion level).

They are training and suffering equipment attrition because of that.

You can simply select and assign divisions to each arrow.

With have a Command Group DD next week. There may be some details in that one.

I was thinking that something felt a bit lite or missing. And realised if we are letting the AI do more after giving broad plans then some overall direction to the plans could be good.

Examples:
1. Encircle: Broad objective order to Generals doing pincer movements to encircle. But the enemy retreats. No problem- the AI acts on 'encircle' objective and attempts to still pull off an encirclement a few provinces deeper.

2. Assault at all costs. Divisions attack until down to 25% strength 10% org

3. Attack- Divisions attack until down to 50% strength 30% org

4. Probe- Divisions attack until down to 70% strength 70% org

5. And like wise with defence. Hold at all costs, or set some screening divs to screen defend until only down to 90 strength and 80 % org.
Draw and hold firm line for them further back.

There are more but can't think of them off top of my head. Maybe advance ones could be tied and become available with doctrines and High rate general. Eg mobile defence- give in the centre to create a pocket and try cut them off.

I wish there was a way to set primary and secondary objectives as well;

Setting a frontage is nice, as is the advanced axis of advance tool.
Having a higher echelon having say, a primary objective, and smaller echelons with more specific objectives or having their own axis of advance(s) would be IDEAL.
Perhaps a slider or something to differentiate the importance of primary (upper echelon) for secondary (lower echelon) objectives as well.

Yes! Definatley setting primary and secondary objectives. Completely forgot that. That could tie in well with the Air Support too. Areas/operations with primary objective getting the lion's share of Air superiority and ground attack flights.

I always had this idea in HoI3 where you could have your Higher Level commands given orders and your lower levels given orders.

Say you've got an Army, and it's orders are to take Berlin, but you specifically have an armor Corp, and you tell them to attack towards Dresden. The armored divisions would still assist with the attack on Berlin, if need be, but primarily would attack towards Dresden. Or, alternatively, you could have a slider or something to that effect that varies the "priority" of objectives. If on "low level" individual corps are to finish or attempt their objectives first and foremost, with the high level command assisting them (aka, corps of troops without specific secondary orders) if need be, and visa-versa- with a possibility of a balanced command structure as well.
