I've been playing the same game now for several days. I'm in the 3rd generation and I started in 1066 as Count of York. By the 3rd gen of my family, I'm the Duke of Leinster Count of Osraige, Laigin, York & Pentheivre. I therefore install my son (4th gen) as the count of York. He dies at 22 from illness and his son (5th gen) is now count of York and according to the succession law, my successor.
In order to achieve my status I had to accept a tarnished reputation, but it's slowly building back up. Then all the sudden the King of England, of whom I'm a vassal claims the title Count of York, which belongs to my grandson who is about 8 years old. Immedietly after, every one in the entire northwest of Europe claims the title Count of York as well.
A few years go by. The next thing I know my grandson of York is dead at 11yrs old. He had no illnesses. Was he assasinated?? Then to my surprise I dig a little deeper and find out he had been excommunicated. Why? He had no bad chatacter traits.
Does my slightly tarnished reputation effect my grandchildren too? Is this why everyone under the sun laid claim to his title, or was it because he was very young? Was he excommunicated because of my bad rep or because everyone wanted his title? Why why why????
Alas I have one heir left.
